Re: Any one down with this miserable cold??

My mother has it. She is in her upper 80's so I am concerned for her.  She has cold symptoms, loss of appetite, low grade fever, and today..... bad headaches.  It seems to have settled in her sinus area which is usually her "weak spot".

@jubilant, I'm just now reading this post. My best friend's mom is that age and has been very sick for about three weeks with something similar. We are worried about her, too. I hope your mother is feeling better now.

Thank you.  I hope your friends mother will start feeling better. That's a long time for someone that age to be so sick.  Mom's just started a few days ago so we are not a week into this yet.

Yesterday she was feeling somewhat better but I just called her a little while ago and I guess she was up sitting in a chair all night last night. She keeps telling me she is coughing up stuff but it's not in her chest?  I had to go feed my dad and take care of some things at the nursing home yesterday so my sister kept an eye on her (she lives across the street from Mom). Today my sister went to feed Dad and I called several times to check on Mom. I am only 5 minutes away.  I am trying to do this all by phone to keep from being exposed to whatever she has. Normally that would not bother me but DH starts radiation treatments (5 days a week for 6 weeks) for prostate cancer this coming Monday and I don't want to get whatever Mom has and expose him to it.

I added your friends mom to my prayer list.  They get pretty fragile at this age and I understand how concerning it is.

@jubilant, I am so touched by your situation that tears just welled up reading about your mom and dad and your husband. You and your sister have so much to bear in taking care of family and coping with the emotions that entails. I guess maybe I am overly identifying with you but going to the nursing home to feed your dad struck a note with me. Your mom sitting up all night due to coughing is a worry. Maybe she has some sinus drainage that is irritating her throat. All of this is so familiar to me. My sister was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and had surgery and is starting radiation next week. Anyway, Jubilant, I am adding you and your family to my prayers. Hugs to you and your sister, your mom and dad and your husband with his treatments. Please take care of yourself, too!!!!

Thank you so much.  I appreciate your identifying with me and letting me know that.  While I am sorry others have to go through these things....it is comforting that others understand and are praying. It means a lot to me....more than you will ever know.
