sidsmon, not sure what you mean. Are you saying that other terms sell the lifestyle better?

I was vegetarian for over 20 years before going whole food plant based 3 years ago.  I struggled with my weight as a vegetarian because I ate so much cheese, ice cream, and other fat-filled foods.  Being plant based has ended my weight struggle.  I'm at my ideal weight now, and if anything have to watch out that I don't lose too much weight; a problem I never thought I'd have!

I would say, as a start, if you want to lose weight on a vegetarian diet to really restrict dairy products.  They were really addictive for me, primarily cheese in my case. The only supplement I take is B-12.

Good luck to you!

@Nadine  I'm vegan.  Doesn't surprise me that you gained weight as a vegetarian...dairy is not only harmful but fattening. (Also, you can be unhealthy if you are including oil and processed foods, as well as dairy.)  Food is my medicine and is an integral part of my lifestyle.  No, I don't need any additional supplements as my diet gives me more than I need.  I do take a B12 because, after researching, I found that it is best for all of us to supplement with this vitamin.   If you google, you can find overwhelming amounts of information. Eat fresh whole foods...unprocessed and you will be happy, healthy, and weight will be a nonevent.   I love living this lifestyle, so many benefits.  Wishing you the best of health!

@phoenixbrd I am vegan too. Finally,  I met another vegan, Yippie! I love living this style of life myself & my weight is great. I have been vegan for quite some time now, due to my love for animals. Enjoy your vegan life & have a great day!Heart PS: I do have one addiction: Avocados, LOL, I eat them like crazy.Smiley Happy

@Sookie Says  HeartHeartHeart Yes, this lifestyle is the best!  I just returned from a four day workshop with Will Tuttle The World Peace Diet.  It was an amazing experience being with like minds for four days....such good energy!  Yes, most of my life (a few years vegetarian), I've been vegan.  Avocados are right up there with cherries and mangos! So happy to live this abundant fulfilling lifestyle!

@Caligurll @Nadine

Cheese contains casomorphines...yes,.it is addictive.  Cheese was the most challenging food to give up when transitioning. Now I don't desire at all, especially from an ethical choice.

@phoenixbrdI feel the same way about it now too.  Now when I see cheese, especially on tv ads, it is just gross to me.   It really pointed out for me how addicted I was at the time.  My decision to go plant based was also for ethical reasons, but after educating myself on the benefits of being plant based my reasons are almost equally health related now.
