I did read some of the Plant Based News thread but it seemed to be vegan. I was vegetarian about 15 years ago but gained weight. I don't want to do that again so I'm trying to decide how to go forward with this.I know there are some supplements that are needed when you are vegetarian also. Any encouragement to go forward with this would be much appreciated.

There are a lot of people who discuss this in wellness I think.You could try posting there.I am surprised that you gained weight as they are usually thin and eat quite a bit.Do you exercise?

My daughter is a vegetarian for over 10 years now.  I often cook for her when I visit.  I am slowly moving that way.  Eat 95% vegetarian but when trapped eating out, I go for chicken.  I am lucky to live on the Space Coast in Florida and buy fish/seafood directly from the boat.  I could never be vegan but like I said for everyday life, I do vegetarian.

I find it extremely easy; but I guess cooking for my daughter for so many years makes it so.  I also haunt farmers markets for fresh everything and do try and raise what I can.

Re: Any Vegetarians here?

@Nadine  I'm vegan.  Doesn't surprise me that you gained weight as a vegetarian...dairy is not only harmful but fattening. (Also, you can be unhealthy if you are including oil and processed foods, as well as dairy.)  Food is my medicine and is an integral part of my lifestyle.  No, I don't need any additional supplements as my diet gives me more than I need.  I do take a B12 because, after researching, I found that it is best for all of us to supplement with this vitamin.   If you google, you can find overwhelming amounts of information. Eat fresh whole foods...unprocessed and it makes me  happy, healthy, and weight  issues get resolved.   I love living this lifestyle, so many benefits.  Wishing you the best of health!

@Nadine

What were you eating throughout a typical week when you were a vegetarian?

Funny...don’t hear the term ‘vegetarian’ marketed much anymore.

We know too much today about the ethical/health aspects

for vegetarian to be a selling point.
