Thank you wonderfulworld!

The bump is gone today (and yesterday), but it itches. It isn't sore or anything.

I'm so glad you suggested seeing the nurse. I would be batty by the end of the month.

I went to the doctor's office and saw the nurse. He said, after some poking and prodding, it was a separate, small lump and that all the stitches were gone.

That sounds about right; I've always had "lumpy" eyelids.

Thank you for sharing your experiences!

wonderfulworld, I truly appreciate the experiences everyone shared!

I'm treating the mini bumps, but if anything looks abnormal, I'll see the surgeon after he returns.

What are you doing for the mini bumps? Is it helping?

Re: Any First Hand Experiences with Stitches (Sutures)?

I had a lentil-sized benign tumor removed from my leg his summer. Had stitches for 8 weeks. My scar was slightly puckered and more divot-y with some puckering. Although a circle of skin had been removed, the scar had more of a rectangular look. It is slowly fading. I used Mederma and Mederma PM for a while, but the scar doesn't bother me and I have other skin treatments that ultimately are better for my leg. The scar has gotten smaller and is looks more like a slightly reddened depression. If you want to treat the scar, check with your pharmacist, or even call the makers of Mederma to see if it is safe for the eye area. I've had sutures several times for benign dermal issues, including an oral tumor, but none were dissolvable or on my face. Eyelid skin is far thinner and more fragile.

I had surgery on my eyelid in October. Some of the stitches were disolvable and others and others weren't. He removed most of the non-disolvable sutures, one worked its way out on its own but I think there may be some more in there beneath the skin.

For those who have had sutures left behind, did you have to have them surgically removed or did they work their way out? The area is completely healed.

I'm looking for information from those with experience, not Google. And don't tell me to go to my doctor; that's a given!

"Don't tell you to go to your doctor" Huh?? So you'd rather get advice from a public bb of people that don't have a medical degree. Right? I'm just sitting here shaking my head. Wow. {#emotions_dlg.angry}

She did go...her surgeon is out of town for the month and she had the nurse look at it. I was just asking how it all turned out. She did the absolute best that she could do given the unique circumstances and was just asking if anyone had a similar situation which I had. Please read her entire post.

She SAID (over a month ago when this was originally posted) "And don't tell me to go to my doctor; that's a given!"--meaning yes, she was already planning to go to the doctor. She just wanted other's experiences to compare her own to. It would avoid so much misunderstanding if people would read the whole post!

When I'm in the shower, I stand under the stream and let the warm water and water pressure hit the affected area.

I also use warm compresses.

The shower method works well.
