Not really an emergency...well maybe. When I was in the emergency room and worried about being admitted I had a great idea. I have since made up plastic bag w/those things I might need: comb, toothbrush, etc. I showed my DH where it is and plan to recycle the contents after 3 months.

Great product is Philosophys 3 in 1.

Good plan.  Emergency rooms can be so busy at times, staff has little time for anything more than medical needs.   And if you do any traveling, that bag of goodies would transition right into your carry-on.

@Group 5 minus 1   Also to anyone who is going to an emergency room, bring a sweater or a throw.  They are notoriously freezing and my son said it was done to try to control the spread of germs.

The last time I was waiting in an emergency room, the wait was well over 4 hours and it must have been 60 degrees in there!

Don't know, it seems a odd concern.  Anytime I became aware I was being admitted or being transferred to more a more specialized hospital, I never fretted about a comb.  Just tried to breathe.

EverytimeI've been to an emergency room (aging mother and father, so lots of times) the last thing on anyone's mind was brushing teeth.

this is an excellent idea.  in past i've had husband gather my things when at hospital with children or parents.  be sure to include phone charger.  having everything at the ready would ensure i have the essentials for a couple of days.

Re: An idea for emergencies.

I love short trips, 1-2 days,  I may get to go once a month if I'm lucky so I keep a bag "semi" packed at all times.   It's so much  more convenient than to try to remember what to pack each time.   Basic bathroom items, underwear, slippers, PJs.

I have been admitted a couple of times in 2019 without warning.   My kids know the location of the bag in my home, they don't mind bringing it to me.

What they would mind is packing it for me!

Hospitals know it's cold inside, just ask for a blanket.   Even a sheet helps.

@Group 5 minus 1 It's not silly--it is something everyone should have handy!  At least copies of health care cards, a few days worth of any pills you take, maybe a few changes of undies, any cosmetic items you might need in small sample sizes, phone contact numbers, etc.

You absolutely never know when you or a loved one might be admitted to the emergency room (after it is the EMERGENCY room--you don't plan a trip!) and have to spend a few days there.

I always have a tote bag with this type of things in it.  You never know, and you REALLY need to be ready for something like this.

Thanks for reminding us!

I agree and would like to add a portable phone charger as well as a wall charger.  I learned the hard way and always have them in my handbag.  I do carry some other essentials in my handbag so I am reasonably confident.  I do have to double check my "go bag" and make sure I have everthing.
