Thank you @Q-Checker. I don't plan on asking more questions on this particular subject, but I have the utmost confidence in the person whom I solicited advice from. I had been impressed with how helpful she was on another wellness forum, but then lost track of her. While I generally have faith in doctors, I'm amazed at how many people get completely different advice/instructions when they compare notes on the same illness.

When I chaired Diabetic support group meetings and did volunteer work teaching patients how to use insulin, I learned how few doctors gave instructions @Q-Checker . Patients would come home with a prescription for insulin and not know how to use it.

54 years of dealing with diabetes I do agree, though, the doctor should give individualized treatment and advice. Sadly, though, few have the time or inclination and a lot of diabetics learn from one another. I often go on Reddit and learn something new in a support group for Type 1. In fact, I have learned far more from fellow diabetics than any physician ever taught me. It's a 24 hour disease and unless you "live" it, it is difficult to imagine what it's like. Try waking at 4 in the morning in a cold sweat from too much insulin (yet you took the same amount as the night before) and no doctor has any idea what it feels like. Only another diabetic can really "get it".

@AuntG No surprise really that advice differs. The severity of the illness and comorbid  conditions are also likely different, as is each person's overall health status and body chemistry. I am glad that you have faith in doctors as the "hot tip" school of medicine is scary. If it was that simple, there would be no need for medical schools and the medical hucksters would prevail.

@Trinity11 Thank you for your informative reply. I don't think that the typical Primary Care doctor is  skilled in treating Type 1 diabetes and that medical care from an Endocrinologist  is highly preferred.

Y’know how they tell you to stay away from meat if you have bad kidneys? We have an assisted living resident that came to us with Stage 4 kidney disease. He’s been on a carnivore diet with us for about a year. Today the kidney specialist told him his kidney disease is stage 3B. “Keep doing what you’re doing” he was told. Thanks to
for his meal planning with recipes from
. And thanks to

for supplying his meat sticks and jerky!

I know someone who tried carnivore with horrific side effects from the high fat chronic diarrhea and then constipation. I can't imagine eating high amounts of meat and sticks of butter. She shared videos where people are eating sticks of butter for snacks. Finally, she wisely stopped the carnivore diet within short time her body responded positively.

Not here telling anyone what they should do nor throw caution out the window gamble with your "health" choosing extreme lifestyles your body your choice. watching someone close to me experience horrific side effects with carnivore doesn't bode well with those who proclaim carnivore diet healthy lifestyle, especially when many people experience similar side effects and more. Information on the dangers are available also include your physician in the discussion with your lifestyle choices.

Harvard Health: published excellent article on the carnivore diet side effects. The list of side effects from this extreme lifestyle should be seriously considered not taken lightly.

Long term issues included.

@JeanLouiseFinch @Thank you for your reply to my question about calcium and osteoporosis.  It is so kind of you to try and help when I didn't receive a reply from the OP.

For the record, the Carnivore Diet is very unhealthy. Fruits and veges in season should be the main go to as well as ancient grains (not the processed that are so prevalent) and meats only as needed.
