I personally had much better results with Lunesta over Ambien. With Ambien I totally lost my memory for that amount of time between taking it and going to sleep. I once ordered a Tig bag with auto order on the phone with absolutely no recollection when I saw the email confirmation the next morning. I immediately went back to Lunesta. Both Ambien and Lunesta are now generic.

I didn't have any luck with Lunesta, unfortunately. Too funny about the Tig bag, my favorite. Sounds like something i'd do.

ZZquil is just diphenhydramine, which is the same ingredient in most other OTC medications. Just buy generic diphenhydramine (Walmart brand) and save a lot of money.

FATCATinCT, are you taking any other prescription medications at the same time that you take your Ambien? There could be an interaction. Another thing is that Ubiquinol can lower both your blood pressure and your blood sugar...causing dizziness.

Are you saying that your doctor has absolutely no appointments available? Wow...I would change doctors fast. Ask to see a nurse practitioner or physician's assistant. Until you see your health care practitioner, I would go off the Ubiquinol.

The only things I take close to the ambien is at dinner, magnesium and fish oil. Very interesting about the Ubiqinol causing low blood pressure and sugar, could very well be contributing. It does seem I feel better come dinner time (after lunch and dinner).

Yes, doc had no appointments and they recommended going to a walk-in clinic. His PA just had a baby so it's only him in the office at the moment. The walk in is 40 minutes away and I don't dare to drive that far. I am going to go off the ubiq and take 3/4 ambien tonight and see how I feel in the morning.

Took it only once and ended up sleep walking. At least it was only into my daughters bedroom. She put me back to bed and I didn't remember a thing that morning. Never took it again. I have terrible sleep problems and now take Lorazepam. I know that it is addicting, but I have been on the same dose for several years now. At least I can get 5-6 hours of straight sleep.

Ambien is what my professional doctor prescribed for me five years ago.

I am taking one tablet every night since I cannot sleep. Unfortunately, I will have to visit my doctor again, since the 5MG does not suffice. He might double the dosage or perhaps give me another "name" for me to try to sleep at nights.

It is advised though to take the Ambien when ready to go to bed and not wait for it to "kick" while perhaps watching the telly, reading a book etc...

The site effect of Zolidem are:

*Night eating syndrome (also commonly known as sleep-eating)

*Headaches (mostly withdrawal symptom)

*Nausea (mostly withdrawal symptom)

*Vomiting in rare cases (mostly withdrawal symptom)

*Dizziness

*Hallucinations, through all physical senses, of varying intensity

*Motor coordination, difficulty maintaining balance

*Euphoria or dysphoria

*Impaired judgment and reasoning

*Uninhibited extroversion in social or interpersonal settings

*Increased impulsivity (mostly withdrawal symptom)

*When stopped, rebound insomnia may occur

I tool Ambien twice. Both times had horrible, crazy, frightening, dreams that woke me terrified! Thankfully never had to take it again. No sleep problems now..

I take the generic 5 mg tablet every night. It is critical to take it and go to bed....no tv,no lights, no music etc.....it is designed to help give you a solid 8 hours of sleep and it does for me, so I plan accordingly. Having shared this, I recently read that Dr. Weil (I think it was him) is a proponent of the 4-7-8 method of relaxing yourself to sleep: inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 7 seconds, take 8 seconds to exhale. Repeat. You must try to lie in your back with your arms at sides or abdomen....people say breathing helps you relax and clear your head. Just a suggestion....I try it just for relaxation on weekends!

I always slept well until I went through menopause about 14 years ago. I did everything I thought would help...meditation, warm baths, various OTC and nothing worked. My doctor finally gave me Ambien generic 10 mg. way too much for me and for a woman. The standard for this is 5mg for women and 10 for men if needed. Ambien does not KEEP you asleep. It just relaxes the turmoil in your head to let you settle down to sleep. As others have mentioned, be ready to get right into bed and it usually takes only 15 minutes for slumber. I have not had any side effects so I trust my doctor with this and other health things. Everyone handles drugs differently so it is between you, your doctor. And, a talk with your pharmacist will help in knowing if the Ambien is not a good mix with other RX you are taking. Good luck!
