My allergies seem to get worse every year.  I've seen an allergist and done what he suggested but they are still terrible.  We discussed allergy shots.  I recently read that there are prescription pills that provide the same results as shots.  You put them under your tongue.

I thought I'd see if anyone here has used / uses the under the tongue tablets before calling for an appt.  It will take months to get in to see him anyway.   Thanks.

@Bridgegal    So many people are allergic to the pollen of the pinon trees that abound in your area.  I've know people who actually moved away because of them.

Mine have gotten worse since I moved to Arizona. Which really surprised me.

@Bridgegal My husband is highly allergic to cedar. When we lived in the Texas Hill country, he was ill every winter with "cedar fever." He had to have a cortisone injection to recover.

When we retired we left the Hill Country and moved home to West Texas. We spend four or five months each year in Ruidoso. We found he is highly allergic to the Juniper trees that flourish there alongside the Piñon pines. They are a variety of cedar. He had to have cortisone the one time we mistakenly spent a few days there while the Juniper were pollinating.

You may want to keep windows closed and avoid being outside when these trees are pollinating. I hope you find a solution. This is not a condition that can be cured with over the counter remedies. Good luck. We understand your misery.

During the years when we were living there full-time, both my son and I saw an allergist in Albuquerque and had to take shots. I hope the pills are effective as an alternative since going in for injections is time-consuming.

This year seems much worse than I ever remember.  About five weeks ago I parked in DD's driveway, pine, fir and cedar woodland all around.  Had the WORST layer of yellow on the car within a couple of hours.  Had to use both the front and rear wipers.

Seriously Folks I am thinking about removing my nose.   I am going to have to take out a loan to get a truck load of Kleenex.  LOL   I have been through Allergy shots twice.  I Lived in Pa and now they say I should do it again because I live in Florida now.  No thanks.  I refuse to spend my last days in Dr.'s offices.  Happy Sneezing everyone!

I have had allergy shots for many allergies.

From what I found out about the allergy pills, they  target only a few allergens.  Northern grass pollens, Timothy grass pollen, ragweed, and dust mites. Only one allergen is included in each tablet.  

Also, sources say the pills are taken every year before allergy season.

With shots, immunity to the allergens is for life.  It's been that way for me so far. Same for my mother. No need to get them every year.  Everything is put together in one vial and is injected once weekly for a year.  At least, that's how it was done when I received mine.  

Knowing what you are allergic to will help you decide.
