floss 84!!
I have had so many frozen pea bags on my foot I can't stand them anymore! It's true, they do help and are easy to find!
Wow, I'm so amazed at so many of you who have had dual injuries at the same time. That is just unreal. I don't know how you did it. I'm in awe of your tenacity and bravery.
We're a special club, those of us who have lived with fractures. It's not a club I ever want to renew my membership in!

My advice would be to check it out. Mine turned black and blue too and got real swollen very quickly. I hobbled around for 3 days until I went to a doctor and he took the x-ray that showed the fracture. Please get it checked out as if you don't take the right care of a fracture, it can heal badly. I've heard all that and am glad I had mine examined.
Although, they say some sprains can mimick a fracture in how they present themselves on the surface. I pray yours is merely a bad sprain that will heal soon.
I couldn't bend my toes at all. It's a weird feeling. When I started PT, she had me do these toe exercises and I literally had to stare at my foot and "will" the toes to bend. Now they are more flexible and are starting to work normally, but they still are stiff. My PT therapist says that when we baby an injury or hold our feet and toes differently to compensate, it takes time to learn how to use them normally again. I have watched all the changes. The bottom of my foot was so swollen and you couldn't see any lines at all. On the top, the bones that extend to your toes were hidden with the swelling. Every morning when I get up now the first thing I do is look at my foot. I pray for the day when I won't care anymore and I'll go on without that fear and worry. The one good thing they taught me is you can't break it again unless you hit it hard again or drop something heavy on it. Pain and tenderness isn't a bad sign.
You only injured yourself a month ago, so be good to yourself and don't overdo. I learned it's time to be good to ourselves and make sure we mend properly.
Best of luck and thank you for your kind words!!

I feel for you and totally understand what you are going through. My message is that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Twenty some years ago I broke my ankle tore all the ligaments and tendons in my foot. My break was a foot dislocation and tear breaking both the tibia and fibula. It took surgery with plates and 10 sc$rews to make it whole. My doctor said he could fix it. I trusted him and made a pledge to myself to make it happen. For the first six weeks was in a cast with toes pointing to the ground. Then progressed to a walking cast for six more weeks. I was able to walk with the walking cast. This happened at the end of October. I did all the exercises the doctor prescribed. There was some weakness for awhile but it got better. In April there was a yearly cancer walk/run and decided that was my goal to walk the 5k circuit. Both my husband and son walked it with me. I think they were afraid I wouldn't make it but I did it and never looked back. Sure some swelling occurs but ice is your best friend. Doc also gave me a foot stocking for support. Nothing would ever stop me from my time and walking. From that time on I always purchased good shoes with plenty of support. Good luck and look forward to your first walk time. You can do this!

I broke a bone many years ago. It may take some time for your foot to feel 100% normal. Don't overdo it, but using it is good. When it swells or is painful, ice it, take a pain reliever if you can, and let it rest before hitting the pavement again. Glad you are doing well!

All of you are such an inspiration to me!! Thank you so much for contributing to my post!
OkeyDokey & nagrom...
I am amazed at your courage and determination. For the first time, I don't feel alone in this battle. When I first broke my foot, people were saying "It's no big deal, it's going to be fine." It was a big deal and it is a continuing one... but to finally see some light through t the darkness is so beautiful.
Thank you all for your words of support and well wishes! I wish all of you too, continued healing and continued courage and hope!
The first songs I listened to on my MP3 player for my first walk around the block were, "Brave," and "Roar." So fitting. Oh yes, and "Beat It," by MJ!
