I am hoping someone will be able to offer some advice. I am moving into a condo and the people who live above me are serious, big-time smokers. When my friend and I went to look at it, we didn't notice it although we did notice a smoke odor but it wasn't strong. We thought the odor was in the hallway. I guess they weren't home at the time. This afternoon I signed the lease and the stench of smoke was beyond awful. I have a mass in my lung (non-malignant) but my pulmonologist did warn me to avoid second hand smoke at all costs. He said he advises that for all his patients but especially for me. The lease has already been signed and I have to vacate my current apartment by December 31 and have no place else to go. I have no family or friends with whom I can live until I find a more suitable place. The condo is lovely, the rent is quite affordable, but I don't think I can reside there at the risk of my health. Does anyone know of anything that will get rid of 2nd hand smoke? Someone told me to get an air purifier but I know they utilize a lot of electricity. The condo is rather large, much bigger than I wanted, so I'd most likely require more than one air purifier. Can anyone recommend an alternative solution? Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance.
