I heard today that this guy doesn't want to say how many children he has produced. Doesn't think it is anyone's business is what I heard. Was surprised when I heard about the 2nd charge on a child the same age of 4. Is the mother of which you speak the mother of both of these 4 year olds?

Agree with you that what he did to this child should have no bearing on taking him away from the mother. If this is the woman he is living with and she condones this type of punishment? Then I am not sure. Kinda confused about this whole thing once I heard he had 2 kids that were 4 years old and punished both of them in the same manner.

Someone posted he has a least seven.

There was a Buffalo Bill, Travis Henry, who fathered at LEAST 11 children with 10 different mothers...all while he was playing and still in his 20s!

He owes a TON of child support!

Soldiers are trained to kill our enemies. They are not out of control. Let's not insult them by saying he could ever be good enough to represent our interests abroad, to follow orders that might require the ultimate sacrifice. Plus, he could never handle the pay cut.

We don't know the circumstances of what went on, I am by no means defending him, if he did what they claim he deserves to be punished just like Ray Rice. Little kids can't defend themselves and I don't think spanking is the answer. With my kids I took something they really liked away for a few days to make an impression and gave back when they knew what they had done was unacceptable and if it happened again the next time could be much longer. What Ray Rice did with his fist is a lot different than a switch. I enjoy the game of Football and would like to get back to the game, so I hope the NFL gets their act together on the players who abuse and a commissioner who looks the other way.

That's an unfortunate statement. More respect should be given to our country's military.

I was beaten with switches and belts. It is neither loving nor effectiive. It speaks to the parent's anger or stupidity. I hope this antiquated child rearing practice has been shown to be harmful. Parents please love your childen, don't beat them.

Charles Barkley is known for his stupid comments. This one about "the south" is just another stupid, unfounded, uneducated comment.

I LIVED in the South in the 1960s and I stand by what I said. It was well accepted to take a switch to kids. I am relating a fact. I am not a stupid person, and I am trying to put some context on this. WHEN I WAS GROWING up and where I lived, people did it all the time and thought nothing about it. I NEVER SAW anyone with marks left on their kids, but it may have happened I don't know. Times change, and ideas about what is right and wrong change.

I am not stupid or uneducated but I would question YOU if you are unable to listen to others without judging people you know nothing about--and I'm talking about what you said about ME.

I did not make any comment, or make exception, nor was I upholding what he did. I simply stated that whipping kids did happen and wasn't a big deal at the time I was growing up. Maybe Peterson was raised in that context--I don't know. I just know it was an accepted practice. Kids were "paddled" in school too. That's another fact. You can call me stupid again and I could not care less, but it did happen.

Beating an adult like that would be considered a crime. Beating a child is a crime.

The "child abuse" law in EVERY state demands that a professional (medical personnel, school personnel, child care etc) must report the suspected abuse to the authorities!! The call goes to the police/detectives and CPS. CPS, with the help of police, conducts an investigation which is then taken to a court. CPS/police have witnesses - doc, mother, others involved -and pictures. CPS usually recommends and judge determines outcome. If the doctor had not reported the injuries and that child died, he/she would be legally penalized! The mother and the doctor absolutely did the right thing. But to look at the pictures, how could anybody not call the authorities!!
