I have osteoarthritis along my entire spine. I've had this for quite some time and keep it under control with excercise, Tylenol and Icy Hot.
But, my lower back and cervical areas are really starting to bother me. I asked my doc about acupuncture and he was fine with that. I was just wondering if anyone has used an acupuncturist for arthritis and if so were the results good?

I have been doing acupuncture for about 10 years.
I am going thru some health issues and have for some time and this gives me comfort.
I have a friend who has rheumatoid arthritis and she use to do acupuncture and would feel better. She has since moved and is not so able to find an acupuncturist. My parents would both do acupuncture. It would help my father after his stroke and the had siatica. My mother experience certain health issues too and this relaxed her.
It is not a one and done. It is cumulative. There are times that I have not gone due to the fact that some insurances do not help in payment.
But I will say that I have felt better with this treatment.
I am allergic to a lot and the less medication that I have to take the better and this allows your body to help heal itself.

Yes, I did and it really helped me a lot. Takes a few treatments but was a great experience for me.

@Winkk I don't know anything about acupuncture. I just wanted to wish you well! That sounds incredibly painful. I hope you find something that relieves the pain for you....and soon!

@Winkk thanks for asking for some input on acupuncture. My arthritis is getting worse and I asked my rheumatologist about acupuncture and she also thought it would help. A chiropractor I went to years ago now offers acupuncture so I am going to call him. Good luck and thanks again.

@Winkk Hello...I have a coworker who has rheumatoid arthritis in both feet. She walks with a stilted gait most times and was receiving cortisone shots to help with the discomfort. However, because they started coming too close together, her ortho doc said no more. Of course, she doesn't want to resort to a walker or w/c, so he suggested acupuncture. I think she's had several sessions and while it's not as quick acting as the cortisone, she is getting relief. Fortunately, our health insurance covers it, so she will continue.
I hope it works for you if you decide to try it!

I have successfully used acupuncture many times... primarily for arthritic and orthopedic pain management. My daughter is using this treatment for menopause and hormone therapy.
The only drawback with my therapist in the beginning was language and we made sure to have an interpreter for my first few appointments. After all these years it no longer matters and we somehow understand each other completely and I value our relationship.

I think it works for many issues. I have used it for back pain mainly, hip pain, sinus congestion allergy. I highly recommend making sure the acupuncturist is highly trained. Some are better than others. I had a medical Doctor, who was also trained in acupuncture in China....and wow he was a magician with those needles. He was so good! He is so far away now, and can find one I want to try close by het. But I believe it's worth it. You may need a few visits. But it's relaxing and soothing I think
