Make an appointment with your Primary Care Doctor or Gastroenterologist to receive proper evaluation and competent care .

I have 'acute gastritis' (not severe), and sometimes take Panteprazole prescribed by my doctor. It really helps.
Then there is Omeprazole (over the counter) which is not as helpful as the Panteprazole.
Drinking a glass of milk before bedtime (always) and during the day helps tremendously to cut acid.
In fact, my stomach has been much better lately and I have dropped the Panteprazole for the last month and eat small meals, which is another big help with stomach issues. NO citrus of any kind, too acidic.
Don't use antacids - My brother also has gastritis and his use of antacids ended up with painful kidney stones.

Sorry to hear about so much discomfort. Time for a visit to your doctor to have such a change looked into. I am sure you can find some relief.

Do you sleep with your head/torso elevated a bit? DH suffers with it and is on meds but the doc ssuggested that he use elevate his body from the waist up. We ended up getting a sleep number bed and it has helped him tremendously but you might try an acid reflux pillow before making the investment.

My Gastroenterologist finally recommended the Fundoplication surgery. It was an easy surgery with one night in the hospital. You have to eat lightly for a week afterwards. After that I eat whatever and no problems ever.

I agree that you should check with a doctor but my husband (being a man and not liking doctors) takes papaya tablets after dinner to help digest dinner. At first I was offended because it was every night and I try to cook healthy with lots of fruits and veggies, but if it makes him feel better why not? I buy the large size chewables through Vitacost.
