Yes, if eating starches without added fat, there's no reason to
'block' carbs. People 'block carbs' to lose weight.
I say (and have been for umpteen years) to EAT STARCH/CARBS!
but don't add the overt fat. The fat is what makes you fat.
The human body needs carbohydrates....a good 80% of yourdaily calories needs to come from carbohydrates...especially starch.
Reduce the fat% to 10-15% & weight loss will happen quickly.

There is such a thing as tone-deafness.
And then there is really tone-deaf.
Some people apparently just don't recognize when their stale, boring lectures (not to mention actual insults) are falling on deaf ears of people too smart and knowledgeable to believe in baloney.
