Re: ANOTHER QUESTION ABOUT KNEE REPLACEMENT

So I have seen two surgeons about knee surgery.

One says you are asleep durint the procedure (like I always am when I get a colonscopy)

The other doctor says I will be numb from the waist down, but still awake or like a twilight sleep.

I prefer being asleep!  Someone told me, although numb from waist down, you will not feel anything, there is a weird noise during the surgery that yoiu do not want to hear!

@qvc chick   I requested being asleep for my hip replacement, doctor groaned, but I won.

Re: ANOTHER QUESTION ABOUT KNEE REPLACEMENT

I used to hear that too. Frightening. I've had three total replacements in my right knee (the first two failed). General anesthesia for all. Best plan. Actually I wasn't given an option. It was assumed that a patient would want a general for this major surgery. My last one was complicated and took six hours.

Re: ANOTHER QUESTION ABOUT KNEE REPLACEMENT

I bet both of these doctors plan on giving you Versed.  It can cause total lack of memory of the procedure, so called "sleep".  Even if you are "awake," you won't care about a darn thing.  Trust them, you will be just fine either way.
