I wasn't able to watch the WEN show with Chaz and Jill but I did hear the beginning when Jill said she considers WEN kids as WEN sensitive.  Can any of the WEN experts here offer up insight?    I am losing hair due to changes in my diet as I try to drop weight.  So I am thinking about a "shampoo" that will be easy on my hair.

Thanks!

@srgtdj

I'll be happy to try and help.

There are many savvy posters here.

Could you say a bit about the type of hair - fine, curly, long, etc

And your scalp - dry, oily, flaky, itchy,

You have?

@ANewHue

@riley1

And any other WEN Friends.

Edited to add, I use WEN kids watermelon.

The saying used to be that

Banana was for Dry hair

Watermelon for Normal

Apple for oily

Don’t know if that still holds.

Re: WEN kids question please?

@srgtdj - I use Wen Kids Watermelon - yes, it is called kids but many adults use it as well. Does not sting eyes, no menthol, chemicals or detergents. Very gentle on the hair.

I have hair past my bra strap and wavy/curly. Just make sure you cleanse, rinse, repeat and, depending on your hair & length, enough leave in cleansing conditioner when you are done (I use a pump from the 32 oz. size). Use either a micro fiber towel or an old cotton t-shirt to absorb the excess water.

@Drythe - thanks - always nice to help a wen gal.

@World Traveler - can you add anything more?

The reason that Jill always called the kids’ formula “WEN Sensitive” is because it doesn’t contain any menthol.  Most other formulas do.  It also is why Chaz originally created it for kids, because the menthol can be irritating to young ones.

It also is rice-based, and contains no wheat, gluten, or soy, which many people have allergies to.  It’s also why I use the WEN Kids.  I prefer the rice-based formulas because they’re a lighter consistency for my fine hair.  There are other rice-based formulas, but I can’t handle their fragrance.  There also used to be a fragrance free rice formula, but I don’t think QVC carries it anymore.

The formula fragrances are geared toward kids, but I don’t find them “childish”.  I’ve used the apple, and it smells just like a popular shampoo brand I used to use, only better.🙂

Re: WEN kids question please?

Thanks so much.  My hair is long--middle of my back.  It's healthy--I've never had dryness.  I get it trimmed and colored monthly.  I know that this hair loss will settle once my body adjusts to my new (healthier!) diet...but I want to try and be more gentle with my hair during this transition.  I thought I might give WEN a try.  Any other products you can recommed in addition to the cleansing cream?

Thanks all so much for the guidance!

I love the Replenshing Treatment Mist.  It’s a multi-use product.  I use it on my face and hair.  It works great as a detangler, even if you are using regular shampoo.  It adds moisture and shine to the hair, and moisture to the face.  I spray it on first thing after I wash my face (with WEN, of course!), before I use my other products.  On days you don’t cleanse your hair, it can be used before styling, or if you have bed head, like I often do!

Also, Chaz always recommends the styling creme for using after cleansing.  If you’re trying to save your hair, this is critical.  It also helps to detangle hair, especially since you have long hair, in addition to adding in styling.

One more thing.  If you’re interested in body cream, his is divine! Not greasy at all, but so moisturizing. I won’t use any other body cream anymore.  Various scents or 319 is fragrance free.  You can also use it on your face, which I often do as well.

Hope that helps to give you some ideas.  Everybody has their favorites, so I’m sure you’ll get a lot of suggestions.  Happy WENning! 👍

Re: WEN kids question please?

Per his description of the Kid's cleanser:

"Following the concept started by Chaz Dean, WEN Kids Cleansing Conditioner eliminates the use of harsh detergents or chemicals, effectively cleansing and hydrating the hair. It's specially formulated for children, the unique formulations gentle for pediatric use. WEN Kids Cleansing Conditioner uses beneficial ingredients extracted from fruits and botanicals, providing hair with the moisture and hydration it needs to stay as healthy-looking and shiny as possible. Each formulation is universal. It's also available in three fruit scents--Apple, Watermelon, and Strawberry Banana--which can be used or mixed together as desired."

Personally, I love the Watermelon and the Strawberry Banana, especially in the summertime. Heart

👏  If you can, please record Chaz’ presentations while he’s here this month.  He gives a lot of useful hints for using the various products.  Also, as he says, if you have any questions, you can call his salon about anything.

And you can always come in here and ask anything!  These ladies are great and have many ideas.  We all tend to use our WEN differently, so if one way doesn’t work for you, somebody will be sure to have suggestions about what they do.

And Welcome to WEN!  I hope it works for you. 🙂
