According to that article now the dermatologist/PROFESSOR confirmed what I said....alopecia in a lot of those pics, and regular female pattern baldness. As a stylist I see it all the time. Am I allowed to diagnose? No, but I recognize it when I see it.

Only been using WEN for about a year and a half.  I was a sceptic.  Silly me.  These days my hair is so soft and shiny, before WEN it closely resembled a pitchfork full of straw! WEN works for ME.

@candys mine, that  quite literally described the hair that a very good friend of mine used to have. She was complaining about how her hair felt after her stylist  had colored it. And she didn't think that the so-called natural shampoo which her stylist had recommended was probably good for her hair. 

 My friend has the most beautiful head of hair which will do anything she wants to do. And it's nice and thick with lots of natural body.  But when I touched it I kind of cringed because it almost felt like the consistency of straw. I had her touch my baby fine hair which was incredibly soft because of wh which was incredibly soft because of Wen.

Her hair got even better as soon as her old-growth grew out. These days  she's a Wen Lavender cleansing conditioner and Lavender Remoist girl.  And her hair looks great!

Adding my support and also a comment. I read through some of the articles people have linked to and they are so badly written. The Daily Beast comments on the first four ingredients, ingredients that are in durn near everything, and goes on to say that the alcohol can be drying. Good grief, it's not that form of alcohol. I'm not a chemist, but I know full well those are moisturizing ingredients!!! I've also read up a bit on hair loss in women and it is so prevalent and so complicated an issue. Of course some people react to Wen. I've reacted to all sorts of products. I haven't sued any of the companies. I just stop using the product. OMG....

Great Thread! Was thinking a lot about Chaz and Team WEN yesterday when I saw this foolishness on People and MSN front page. I read an article from the Daily Beast that was (finally) the only one to say there are 3-4 formulas of WEN, and explained briefly why this is. Chaz works so hard and is such a force for good, but this has got to be getting him down. Knowing how much he helps us all lifts him up so here I go....

As a child my hair was thick and shoulder length. It never 'grew'beyond that point and as I got older no matter what advice I followed never progressed. Now, of course I know it grew but became shorter through breakage. By the end of 2011 when I saw the WEN informercial, I had resigned myself to just getting extensions periodically whenever I felt I wanted to enjoy longer hair.

My Weniversary is January 12, so 4 years is coming up! #WENlove. I had problems starting out. I had my find my way to the salon website to view the videos that instructed me to use much more formula on my AA hair. For whatever reason, I had such a strong belief that WEN was what I had been waiting for, that I never went back to my Nexxus and System Biolange before I got the right WEN recipe. It took a week and a half or so. Using the right quantity changed the feel of my hair from the time I got in the shower to getting out. In a short amount of time, I found my way to you lovely ladies and switched to getting the great deals offered on WEN at the Q.

Since 2012, I have grown out all my poo hair and grown hair almost to mid-back. I alternate between lengthening phases and thickening phases. Right now I am in a thickening phase, so I don't expect much more length til Spring. As my hair gets longer, the thickening phase will take longer to reach the ends. Advice Chaz gave in response to my question on Periscope has made even greater a difference. Love that man! I also use Andrew Lessman's Healhy Hair Skin and Nails. Auto ship! 

I share the 'secret' of WEN with all but especially with AA women who ask if my hair is real. Healthy hair has made such a difference to my confidence and self-esteem. I think it  shows in all that I do, being more outgoing and in my work. My Armageddon stash of WEN is my insurance that I will never be without it. Go Team WEN!!

I don't use WEN.  I have a full head of healthy, shiny, curly hair. But I did get some fallout.  It turned out I had a low thyroid.  Fixing that took care of the shedding.  I wonder how much of these people in this law suit need medical attention.

We were discussing this before and I said the very same thing.  And when they lose and they WILL LOSE I want to see as much if not more media attention.

Same here. I am disappointed about the settling out of court. Take it all the way because the burden of proof is on the plaintiffs and there is also the issue with the disclaimer on the WEN bottles saying to discontinue if you have an adverse reaction. So there is that too. Of course the class action lawsuit lawyers are willing to settle out of court as they know proving the case would be impossible and they know that even in the out of court settlement they are the only true winners in this- it will be a cash windfall for them. The people in the class action lawsuit will hardly get a thing.

The issue has been so hard to solve because nobody's been able to pinpoint what, exactly, is at the root of the problem. The Daily Beast states that the complaint claims Wen products contain a "caustic ingredient that causes a chemical reaction and damages hair and follicles,” as well as "numerous harsh chemicals and known human allergens.” But as far as cosmetic chemist Ni'Kita Wilson can tell from the product label, she doesn't see any red flags. "When a chemist hears 'caustic ingredient,' we’re looking for some type of alkaline ingredient that’s used in perms or hair relaxers...something like sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide," she says. "If they’re talking about the conditioning agents, well, that’s BS because these same conditioning agents are in every brand of conditioner from high-end to mass...I’m not disputing the claim at all; something is going on — that’s clear. It’s just not obvious just by looking at the ingredient list." (In addition, some blogs claim that Wen has not provided the full ingredient list to consumers.)

Joshua Zeichner, MD, dermatologist and director of cosmetic research at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, has another theory. "Typically, when hairs fall out in clumps, it may be due to physical or emotional stressors on the body. In reaction to a stressful event to the body — be it an illness, childbirth, or in some cases even a severe allergic reaction — the hair can shift into a resting phase in which it is rapidly shed. The good news about the process, which is called telogen effluvium, [is that it] resolves on its own after several months, as long as the stressor has been removed from the picture.
