Re: Sun, October 14th - Lessman TS values (Friendly Flora & Resveratrol plus) & other specia

Andrew's two TS values for October 15th, 2017 (today) are:

* Ultimate Friendly Flora

* Resveratrol, Green Tea w/ EGCG, Pomegranate 40:40 & Grape Seed complex -- 100mg of each ingredient

Andrew's final TS show is 8pm-10pm ET tonight.

I've included two price charts below, for comparison, so that you can get a better idea of how great today's TS is over the regular prices.

___

In the first chart, which is Ultimate Friendly Flora (25 billion CFUs), I've included today's TS prices (in bold) as compared to his regular Procaps Labs prices (non-bold). -- Note that the TS sizes (30, 60, 120, and 270) are different from his regularly available sizes  (90 and 180). -- Today you are getting the 270 capsule size, for the regular price of the 180 capsule size which is a 33% savings over the regular price.

Procaps Labs prices for Ultimate Friendly Flora

30 capsules -- TS -- $19.90

60 capsules -- TS -- $34.90

90 capsules -- $59.90

120 capsules -- TS -- $59.90

180 capsules -- $99.90

270 capsules -- TS -- $99.90

___

The second chart is for the Resveratrol, Green Tea w/ EGCG, Pomegranate & Grape Seed Extract (GSE) complex. -- I've included today's TS prices (in bold) as compared to his regular Procaps Labs prices (non-bold). -- Procaps Labs regularly carries a Resveratrol, Green Tea w/ EGCG & Pomegranate complex which also includes 100mg of each supplement. The also carry a 100mg Grape Seed Extract supplement.

To get a price comparison, I've added the prices of these two supplements together and compared those prices to today's TS.

Procaps Labs regular prices vs. TS prices for Res, GT, Pom & GSE complex

30 capsules -- Res, GT & Pom ($22.90) and GSE (not avail. in this size) --

30 capsules Res, GT, Pom & GSE -- TS -- $17.90

60 capsules -- Res, GT & Pom ($39.90) and GSE ($15.90) -- $55.80

60 capsules Res, GT, Pom & GSE -- TS -- $29.90

120 capsules -- Res, GT & Pom ($99.90) and GSE ($39.90) -- $139.80

120 capsules Res, GT, Pom & GSE -- TS -- $69.90

360 capsules -- Res, GT & Pom ($179.90) and GSE ($69.90) -- $249.80

360 capsules Res, GT, Pom & GSE -- TS -- $99.90

All purchases today have free S&H. -- While the TS value is only valid for today, the special pricing on the other supplements is available through tomorrow evening, since Andrew has a Variety Show tomorrow night on HSN.

The very best TS values are always on the largest size.

The postherpetic neuralgia is the thing that everyone worries about with shingles. I'm so sorry that this was the result for you. -- My mom had shingles at about the same age and she really suffered for 6-8 months. SHe was really fortunate not to have any nerve damage.

As a preventive, I periodically read through info that might help the postherpetic neuralgia. As I'm sure you know, they really don't have any good remedies. Smiley Sad

As for the acid reflux, below is some information that I put together for my mom. -- Unfortunately, I can't seem to find the detailed info on the main GERD diet, but I've included the basic key items to avoid. -- I did find the info on what desserts work for GERD (my mom loves her desserts).

______

______

GERD / acid reflux diet -- basic key info on foods to avoid

Specific main triggers for acid reflux:
* chocolate (replaced with carob which actually has a positive/good effect on acid reflux.)
* caffeinated coffee & tea (replaced with decaf) -- they relax the esophageal spincter which allows the stomach acid to go back up the esophagus.
* whole milk (fat content; replaced with 1% fat milk)
* citrus juices (orange, lemon, grapefruit juices, etc.) -- in contrast, apple juice actually has a positive/good effect on acid reflux.
* any berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries) -- they relax the esophageal spincter which allows the stomach acid to go back up the esophagus.
* any mint (peppermint, spearmint, etc.) -- they relax the esophageal spincter which allows the stomach acid to go back up the esophagus.
* NO HIGH FAT -- any cheese, peanut butter, or any nuts (these are all 100% fat). -- MIracle Whip now makes fat free "maionaise"

The reason that you need to be on a low fat diet is that fat slows down stomach digestion. As long as food is digesting in the stomach, acid reflux remains an issue. -- This is an oversimplified version of stomach digestion time (I have to assume that the more fat that’s in a meal, the longer the total digestion time):

* fruits - 15 minutes
* dairy - 30 minutes
* protein - 1 hour (or up to 2 hours)
* fat - 4 hours

______
______

GERD / acid reflux diet -- desserts

As you mentioned in your previous email, the chocolate dessert options (in fact most dessert options) tend to be problematic for mom.

Before you read through this, here's my take away. If you can keep:

* fat free frozen yogurt
* Chatfield carob chips (chocolate candy substitute)
* Fat Free Fig Newtons (or Fat Free Fig Newmans, from Newmans Own brand)
* gourmet jelly beans
* dates rolled in coconut
* pretzels

__

The only store bought fat free cookie I could find are Fig Newtons (they have a new far free option) and also Newman's Own has a fat free fig cookie/bar (Fat Free Fig Newmans). -- There are some recipes of fat free oatmeal cookies but I haven't tried them out.

___

The so called "low fat" cookies are generally about 10-13% of your total RDA daily fat intake for two cookies... which is not what I call low fat.

___

Cakes and dessert loaves can be even worse. I've looked through more nutritional panels on supermarket cakes than I want to remember. -- The "good" options are between 10-15% (of total RDA for fat) for a piece, while the bad options can be upto 35% (of total RDA for fat) for a piece.

A few general guidelines about cakes:

* if the cake has frosting, there may be hidden sins filled with butter cream in it. -- Carrot cake is generally made with buttercream or cream cheese frosting. -- The good quality cakes you purchase from specialty bakeries generally have butter based frosting. -- On the other hand, if the frosting is sickeningly sweet, the total butter content is probably low.

* any "cream" dessert (such as tiramisu) is likely to have a high fat content

Surprisingly, one of the low fat bundt cake options are the Star Market store made bundt cakes (about 10-13% RDA for fat per piece). Avoid the blueberry bundt cake because blueberries (along with strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, chocolate and mint) relax the sphincter muscle that closes off the esophagus from the stomach. Thus these foods help digesting food to travel back up the throat and burn the esophagus (see link below). -- Apples actually have a positive effect on reflux, so apple bundt cake is the best.

7 Surprising Facts About GERD and Acid Reflux - Health Answers
Aug 12, 2014 - Acid reflux occurs when stomach acid flows backwards up into the ... In addition to the “classic” acidic foods – such as caffeine, chocolate, alcohol, ... blackberries, strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries are very acidic too.

4. You should avoid acidic foods if you have acid reflux diseasebecause they loosen the muscle between the stomach and the esophagus.  In addition to the “classic” acidic foods – such as caffeine, chocolate, alcohol, mint, tomato, onion, and garlic –  “healthy” foods such as honey, blackberries, strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries are very acidic too.

___

Other tasty options that seem to work for mom:

dates rolled in coconut (almost no fat content apart from the coconut)

Chatfield carob chips -- These are the chocolate substitute which actually (and ironically) has a positive effect on acid reflux.

gourmet jelly beans (because they tantalize her laste buds, as opposed to just being a blah sugar high) -- A number of websites have recommended them as being a good option but (like many fat free candies) they do have citric acid in them. -- The problem is that citric acid can be problematic with acid reflux, which is why citrus fruit and juice is out of limits for people with reflux. -- I'm just unclear about how much citric acid it takes to create a problem, so I don't know if the jelly beans will stay on the good foods list.

Note: In general, fruit can be problematic for mom because of it's acid content. -- Two great exceptions are apples and bananas which are fine for mom to eat.

pretzels -- they are fat free!!! I bought some for mom, so I'm waiting to see if she will eat them.

___

Nuts and butter are the biggest offenders when it comes to high fat desserts.

___

I combed through the web lout all the fat free frozen yogurt options I could find. -- I wanted to share it with you in case one or more of these brands decides to discontinue their fat free frozen yogurt options (and it's a short list). -- Also, I haven't included the chocolate, mint chocolate chip, strawberry, blueberry or raspberry fat free options because each of these ingredients loosens the sphincter muscle that separates the stomach from the esophagus.

Here's the very short  list of fat free frozen yogurt options:

* Hood -- Vanilla Bean Fat Free Frozen Yogurt, as well as Vanilla Fat Free Yogurt
* Edy's -- Fat Free Slow Churned Yogurt Blend: Vanilla (make sure to get the fat free version)
* Breyers -- Fat Free Creamy Vanilla Ice Cream
* Turkey Hill -- Vanilla Bean Frozen Yogurt
* Kemps -- Fat Free Caramel Praline Crunch Frozen Yogurt, as well as Fat Free Vanilla Frozen Yogurt

@bebe777 I already know what I can eat & what time of day. LOL!!! I love chocolate & eat some daily. I don't have a problem with it unless I eat it late at night. That's why I just don't eat after 7.

I don't have any problems with yogurt or frozen yogurt.

I love fruit but don't eat it after 7 because I know what will happen.

All the foods that cause the acid reflux for me are not a problem eating them during the day & never have been.

My problem always happened after I went to bed & I woke up with it due to eating at night. As long as I give my food time to digest before bed I'm good.
