I haven't tried Haagen Daaz gelato but I really like dulce de leche ice creams that have a caramel taste to them (I don't know what the phrase means in english). lol, I may have to check out thier gelatos!

You should! Something I really like about that flavor is that the saltiness is actually detectable on the palate. A lot of times salted caramel is just caramel flavored really. Their salted caramel has that little tang of savory.

I think dulce de leche just means sweetened milk and it is caramel because when you heat sugar it turns to caramel (and milk has a lot of sugar). I could be totally wrong though. I probably know just enough to be ignorant! Haha.

Sorry ladies, I would have answered sooner but forgot to check the thread!

Anyway, I have not tried it yet believe it or not! I was going to last night but it was late by the time I remembered it and didn't want to eat that late. I might give it a try tonight. I will certainly post back when I do!

I used to love chocolate but for about the past 5 years, I just haven't been as into it as I use to. Not sure why, I guess my tastes have changed.

I will have to try the salted caramel one mentioned. I LOVE good salted caramel things. Many do it poorly but when it is good, it is AMAZING! Putting a little in ice cream sounds interesting!

I really love good ice cream and like to try different flavors. There are so many interesting kinds now....so much ice cream, so little time, lol.

Okay I finally got around to trying it and @bebe777 you are right, it is really good! What I like about it is that it is a VERY subtle rum flavor and, as you've said before in the past, it is a true rum flavor and not a fake one. Very very subtle. I like that the ice cream part isn't artificially colored either, lol. I know that is an odd thing to like but I just don't like when they color ice cream to make it look like what we think it should look like (think mint ice cream). Anyway, it is delicious and I'm glad you mentioned it. Hopefully my Safeway continues to carry it because it is a nice option. Yum!
