Other than the extra aminos in the 613 mousse, are the other ones all the same formula other than scent? I can't remember anymore, even though I'm sure it's been discussed. I'm mostly looking for something to set and hold my wurls.

I don't know the answer to your question but I was watching some of the Saturday show with Jill.  I am dipping my toe into the WEN waters so to speak.

I was shocked when Chaz was showing that model with the super short blonde hair and said he would put 10 pumps of mousse in her hair.  My hair is chin length and I only put about 2 pumps of the mousse I'm using now in my hair.

Why so much?  If he would do 10 pumps in her hair, mine would need about 15 I would think.  I have a small size of the mousse that I got in a discovery kit but I've not used it yet.  I did order the replenishing mist in the jasmine because it was an awesome deal but it was on waitlist.

No it's fine. I think the amount you use might depend on what you want it to do.

Thanks.

I decided to give the mousse a try this morning.  It's the lavendar formula.  I think I did do about 10 pumps. I was very skeptical because this mousse is very thin.  The mousse I use now has a lot of body to it.

Anyhow, color me happy because my fine hair has tons of volume!!  I love it.

Hi @jaxs mom

I am not certain this is a big deal, but the MIF and BGT mousse contain the 4 tea complex and bamboo water. They are not exactly the same, but for my hair my favorite mousse is 6 13 or MIF. 😊 I have tried all of the seasonal mousse formulas that have come out. Some work better than others for me. SHP and FVWP are two great seasonal mousses in my opinion (based solely on performance)! 👍🏻

Thanks @Nicole WI I'm not sure if I should avoid the BGT one because my hair doesn't like the CC. I'm not sure why I have issues with it, if it's the bamboo water or something else.

Re: Mousse question

[ Edited ]

I think the classic mousses are all pretty much the same. The bamboo and MIF mousses have different ingredients. However, I did notice that the bamboo and MIF mousses do not have aminos. This makes me happy!! I just ordered the MIF mousse. I have to be careful not to use too many aminos, or my hair gets dry.

Thanks @Hilary77 I hadn't checked the ingredient deck yet but I thought the BGT and MIF might have the extra aminos like the CC versions do. good to know they don't. I also have to be careful of too many aminos and protein.

I wish Chaz would consider making more of the seasonal products without the amino acids. I know some people need the extra protein, but some don't. I can use aminos occasionally, but not all the time.

Have you used any of the WEN Mousses before, @jaxs mom? Obviously, everyone is going to get different results, but I found that they did very little for my curls, especially on days where it's humid.

I had to use a LOT of the mousse to get any definition and hold - like 15-20 pumps for my hair. (My hair is thin and touches my bra strap in the back.) The formula is liquid, like water, and it foams up when you pump, so even though I used a lot, the product didn't get used up super fast, it was just a pain to use 15 pumps. He showed Maria, who has shoulder length hair, and she had 30 pumps of mousse in her hair and usually uses 15. So be ready to use way more than you think you should. The more I used, the better it would work.

The 613 mousse did leave my hair glossier than my other styling products, but that was the only real positive experience. This morning I pulled out a Mandarin Italian Fig Mousse I got from a TSV and used it over my HG curly product, Curl Keeper. It gave me no real definition and little hold. (The Curl Keeper prevents frizz even in 90% humidity, so I'm good there!)

Give it a try, but I recommend passing on the WEN styling products and using curly-specific products.

Let us know how it works for you!
