A local TV station ran a story about this the other day. They showed a young girl who had almost total hair loss. Then there was a picture of a person with isolated bald spots, which is classic for alopecia areata, which is not caused by Wen.
My mother told me I shouldn't use Wen just a couple of weeks ago. I told her it was not true that Wen causes hair loss and that I will continue to use it. I've had alopecia areata long before I ever used Wen. It's actually gone back to being quiescent since I started usin only Wen last December. If I used the logic of some Wen detractors, I could say Wen cures alopecia areata, I guess.

I totally agree with you. I have seen alopecia areata in person (2 cousins, 1 friend's child) and I too know what it looks like. Shame on the parents for putting that poor child on display that way, I hope they are getting her some MD help.

I do declare I'm not the first person to mention that this IS the WEN forum. And yet, some do keep on coming back to post this "NEWS" over and over again. Doing so HERE is likely to bring a bit of push back. No surprise there.
I'm certain you're just doing your civic duty to keep everyone informed, but trust me on this, we WENNERS know what's going on with WEN.

Yep. We certainly do. Probably more so, than any of them WEN "critics" combined. They (pretend?) NOT get it somehow, @Drythe! ![]()
What puzzles me most Drythe, is that they CLEARLY see, that WENNERS still stand by WEN product IN SPITE all this intense adverse publicity campaign, IN SPITE of all the (alleged) stories and photo images of horrible scalp conditions or diseases, aimed to bring chills and turn people off using this product!
They do SEE - we continue our business as usual - using and loving WEN.
They SEE it, but they can't get it for some reason!
They believe, posting horror stories here, will really make someone like you, or me listen to stories and STOP??? ![]()

As a fairly new WEN user I have to say I am thankful that some happy WEN users reply to the fearmongers and I'll tell you why. I was curious about WEN after seeing the presentations so I read up at the WEN forum.
When I was on the fence after reading about the lawsuit, it was the reviews and first person stories of success that got me try it. Of course, now that my hair is more silky, not damaged and growing beautifully (the gorgeous scents are a bonus) I have now given up flat irons and hot rollers and coloring. My hair has never looked better and I get many compliments and people asking me what I'm doing different. So even though it must be frustrating replying to the same type of posts,I'm glad some of you did or I would have never known the joys of being a WEN girl.

There always will be unscrupulous people who create accounts on public forums either to promote or to attack a product, service, or person. Many of them are compensated financially or otherwise for these activities. The best two things established posters can do is let the moderator know of our concerns, asking them to keep a watchful eye; and (as @77yangya mentioned) take away their oxygen by refusing to acknowledge the posts or threads. I understand the latter is hard, especially when we want to defend the product/service/person or correct any misinformation, but each time we do so we also bring the thread back to the top of the page and generate more interest.
