I posted on the general beauty board but would like some additional help from Wen users who currently use the treatment oil that is in today's TSV. The value is good based on the size of the oil but I am totally lost on when and how to use this in my routine. I cannot wash my hair once or twice per week. Between exercise and the type of hair I have for me its every other day or at least 5X week. I am concerned that the oil will make my hair either greasy or weigh it down. I'm not sure "where" on my head it should be applied and the difference between using it after cleansing my hair or what it means to use it as a treatment. Since I am this confused- feel free to treat me like a first grader, and let me know exactly what to do. This is the only new product I'll be using. If this won't work for my type of hair, maybe I'll cancel the TSV. Thank you!

I use the oil as an overnight treatment at least two times a week. You are supposed to use 4 droppers of the oil and apply on your scalp and leave overnight. At least that is what I do. If you find this to be too much for your hair you can try using less of the oil as an overnight treatment.

Hello Acatgirl,
You should use the oil as a treatment prior to cleansing your hair. Some wenners apply to the entire scalp (1 dropper full each quadrant -on front right, front left, back right, & back left) Massage the scalp and leave on overnight and cleanse in the morning. If you are night cleanser you can do this few hours prior to cleansing. Eventually this will decrease your natural oil production and you may be able to go longer between cleanses. You can also apply a little oil to your leave or use on dry ends if you need additional moisture. Alternative uses can be using the oil after baths on skin or adding to lotions for extra hydration. The oil treatments work wonders on your hair and scalp. I highly recommend them especially to try at this price with TSV.

I also have fine hair. No way can I use 4 dropper fulls without all my hair becoming very oily. I use 2 dropper fulls for a scalp treatment. Sometimes I'll do the length of my hair as well that's another 1-2 dropper fulls. I put it in my hands, run them together and them rub through my hair
I dont like doing overnight treatments so I put the oil in an hour or more before I cleanse. Since you shower after working out maybe putting the oil in when you start you workout would work for you.
Depending on how much hair you have you can also put a couple drops in with your leave in. One of my daughters has curly hair that can get dry. I will put a couple drops on her ends

Everyone who responded so far has given you great advice.
I have thin, fine hair that used to get extremely oily so the last thing I thought I'd ever apply to my scalp was oil. I've never had any problems with the oils weighing my hair down. You just need to make sure to rinse all of it out. Although my hair isn't as oily as it used to be it does still get oily so I cleanse every day as well.

I have fine, thinning hair and *used* to have an oily scalp too. I use the oils for scalp treatments. Occasionally I'll put a dropper or 2 of oil on my ends, but usually only in the winter when the air is drier here in the Midwest winters.
I use 3-4 droppers and massage into my scalp. Usually do this 1-2x week and leave in for about 4-5 hours before I wash my hair (I shower at night). i have to say, using a mix of POM & TT oils has been a game changer for me! I've been getting new growth and have been able to go from washing my hair daily to 3x a week now. Adding the oils to my scalp on a regular basis has decreased the amount of oils my scalp was producing. Wen has been great for my hair & scalp too, but I really think adding the oils to my routine has really made the biggest difference for me.

@HSB1204 I have the same hair type and I was horrified the first time I voluntarily did an overnight oil treatment. Iol, I thought it was curtains for my hair and scalp... but all it did was to normalize my scalp's oil production over time and make my hair grow 1-1.5 inches a month. Before that I never noticed hair growth even after 4-5 months. -- And the Wen CCs cleansed the excess oil out of my hair and scalp with no problem. It just takes a bit longer for that cleanse (maybe 1-2 minutes).
lol, who knew ![]()

Another way to apply oil is to put some in your hands, rub your hands together and massage the oil into your scalp. You can use the excess oil on your hands and rub it into your cuticles.

Prior to WEN, I had an extremely oily scalp. The oils have helped lessen my oil production, but I still cleanse daily due to work outs. I try to do daily oil treatments. I do 3-4 dropper on my scalp and 1 dropper on my length. I use combos of CA, Kids apple, SOB, BGT, and or TT for my first cleanse. These all work well to remove the oil treatment.

@bebe777 I completely agree. The overnight oil treatments have really made a difference in my hair. Unfortunately my hair still grows pretty slowly but at least I notice more new hair growth when I use the oils so I can feel my hair getting thicker. ![]()
