Travel Compression Socks - Plus Size Information

Hello Fellow QVC Travelers - I wanted to share a bit of information in the hopes that it would help others in the future. I am a plus size and was searching for compression socks for an upcoming flight to Copenhagen.

I searched online (Amazon) and many of the reviews under "plus size" either said the socks did not fit the calf or where "fake" compression socks.  I found a company called REJUVA Health that sells WIDE CALF compression socks for travel.

WELL, they arrived and fit perfectly.   I ordered the Mediven Active Compression Socks in the largest size VI LONG for 15.00 - 20.25 inch calves - the price is 33.99 on sale.

I also have a larger foot size, so I ordered the "LONG" to accomodate my size 11 foot.  If your foot size is not larger, you probably would not need to order the Long.  I am very pleased. I am debating to order a second pair in case the company discontinues the larger/long size.

QUESTION:

When do you put on your compression socks?  At home or before the flight at the airport?

The pair I purchased fit so well that I could put them on from at home.

I can't fly without compression socks, also for a size 11 shoe.  I don't remember where I got mine, I'm thinking WAl-Mart, but they weren't  $33.  I put them on when I get dressed at home.

Thanks so much for this info! It just so happens that I have a wide calf and a large foot (size 10-11) just like you!

Thanks again- have a great day. Smiley Happy

Re: Travel Compression Socks - Plus Size Information

In healthcare setting, we always put compression socks on the patient while they're still in bed with feet at or slightly above heart level.

If patient could do this without help they kept their back (and heart) horizontal on the bed and raised their feet up to their hands.

Re: Travel Compression Socks - Plus Size Information

I put mine on at home.  For short flights I just wear the Knee High version sold at QVC (Legacy?).  But for international flights I use the "pantyhose" version.  I had to purchase those at a pharmacy.  They were expensive, but I've had them for years.

I put my light compression socks on while getting dressed at home.

I thought $20 was a lot for the first pair I bought. (since then have paid far less)

Just as an update...BIG AND TALL MEN

Just as an udpate, I had my husband (who is big and tall) try on the compression socks and they FIT HIM.

So I share this to say the item is flexible.

he wears a size 14 show and is a bigger man so if you need to order this item for a big and tall man it will work!!!

I ordered a second pair for him to wear on the plane last night.  5.99 to receive in 3-5 days, while 7-10 days is free shipping.

We leave on October 16 so I did he 3-5 days to ensure that I receive the item in time.

Re: Travel Compression Socks - Plus Size Information

Bought some Dr. Scholl's compression socks on Amazon this year that fit much better than the Legacy brand I bought on QVC.  Legacy were too long for my legs (I'm 5'2", size 8 shoes).  The Dr. Scholl's fit very well.  My calves are the only muscular place on my body and are difficult to fit in sock and boots.
