DH and I are wanting to take a road trip and I want to know if anyone has driven the Natchez Trace? I have read places to stay and restaurants are few and far between.

@Trailrun23, have you ever posted on TripAdvisor? You may get some responses on their board. Perhaps under the "road trip" forum.

I haven't posted on there but I have looked for info there. Thanks for the suggestion.

We have been on the Trace a number of times but not nearly all of it. We have mostly been on in the Tupelo MS area. Lots of history and interesting sites.

We have also been on all of the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive and can recommend both of those.  Wonderful, peaceful and lots of places to stop along the way and get on and off.

We did it.

My brother was a long distance truck driver and took us home by way of Natchez Trace. He was our "tour guide". He knew where to stop, places to see and restaurants to try.

Sadly we were coming back home to Pennsylvania, from a wedding in Baton Rouge by way of Texas. (He wanted to take us to one of his favorite restaurants). So we didn't do a full tour - just an abbreviated one. But we always said we wanted to go back and spend more time checking it out.

I hope you go and then tell us how much you liked it.

I live less than 2 miles from an entrance to Natchez Trace. If you like pretty drives, then this is for you. The speed limit is really low and you must be alert for deer, etc. it's just not my cup of tea - so to speak - for vacation or leisure driving.

It's on the list of drives to do!
