HAWAII bound! 2022

[ Edited ]

the time has come and i will be HAWAII bound on SUNDAY!

i am so looking forward to doing so much and so little during the same vacation. we were there three years ago and had such a wonderful time . we were supposed to go last year, but covid put a damper on that and we cancelled.

we will be in honolulu/waikiki. anywhere special i should eat or visit? trying to do some of our favorite things and also add in some new things. of course, we also want some beach time and cocktails! Smiley Wink

has anyone been recently? i am looking forward to some new suggestions.

Haven't been to Hawaii in a while but when we'd go we liked:

Leonards Bakery:  Famous for their malasadas.  Note:  Very small and limited parking.

Rainbow Drive In:  Was on Diners, Driveins & Dives.  Famous for their hamburger wtih gravy, rice and egg.

North Shore:

Pineapple Plantation:  Get their "Dole WhiP:.  Don't buy a pineapple there.  Way too expensive.  If you want to buy a pineapple, just go to a supermarket.

Food Trucks

Sea Turtles

Matsumoto Shaved Iced:  Again, very limited parking.  Lots of cars coming and going.

Pearl Harbor:  Know before you go about tickets and times.  Parking lot is small.

Diamond Head

Have a wonderful and safe trip!

@sunshine45 Don't know if you did Pearl Harbor the last time but it's an absolute must.

You do have to buy your tickets online ahead of time, especially if you want to go out on the boat to the memorial.  They only allow so many people a day to do that.   Other than that there isn't anything special I remember about Honolulu, other than a luau we did which was great fun!   Have a nice time Smiley Happy

What I can remember doing on Oahu -

 - Waikiki Beach

 - Pearl Harbor

 - flea market Saturdays at Aloha Bowl (many years ago - not sure if this is still a thing)

 - snorkeling at Hanauma Bay (morning is best)

 - Polynesian Cultural Center

 - North Shore shaved ice place

 - pancakes/waffles with coconut syrup

Always came home with chocolate covered macadamia nuts!

Hope you have a fun and safe trip!

Remembered something else - went to church and loved the 'Aloha' greetings from the pulpit and 'Alohas' from the congregation in reply!
