Traveling to England next week. Anyone know how England’s weather is for July. Is it real hot for shorts and t-shirt? Or more capri and pants with t shirt or long sleeves kind of weather. Does it rain a lot. Thanks for any help.

@joann1218 Have a wonderful time. There is lots to see and do.

When I went to England it was in June and also in July. The weather was quite comfortable. The temperature was generally in the high 70s.

I did not pack any shorts. I tended to dress up a bit. I visited museums and one manor house  where Winston Churchill grew up (Blenheim). I also visited Westminster Abbey and St. Paul's, so I did dress nicer and took numerous side trips. I even went into the "Silver Vault" shops. .We toured Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle and didn't want to dress down. But wear comfortable shoes. You will often end up walking more than you expect.

But to be honest I wasn't paying much attention to what other people were wearing. I just tried to make sure that I didn't look out of place no matter where I was. So I thought it was better to wear comfortable but nice outfits.

PS -  It did not rain either time I was there. Or if it did, it didn't affect my plans..

The weather in the UK in July can be just about anything.  Best idea would be to look for a long range forecast.  It used to be temperate in the summer but thanks to climate change those days are long past and they have had some miserably hot weather, as has the continent.  Also, not every place is air conditioned.

I am from England and was there last July .I was in the north , it is usually cooler there .London is mostly hot [due to population and buildings ]I lived in London for 9 yrs .I would take a good lightweight rain jacket .

Last yr I saw lots of dresses being worn over there .Linen good for the hot days as there is little air conditioning .Also a good cardigan for the cooler days

Good walking shoes essential , sandals ,

Yes, I must say I wore alot of dresses. Because when I was visiting places, Stratford-upon-Avon for example, I also saw a play by The Royal Shakespeare Company. So I had to dress for sight seeing and seeing a play. And a summer dress worked well.

Don't know if you are on a tour or on your own or what. But I found that there was so much to see and do that you didn't do many or any wardrobe changes through the day.

England is known for its cool summers.  I was there years ago touring the British Isles in June/July, and I froze!  I had packed my summer clothes which were useless.  And in Scotland, I caught the worst cold.  I had to buy some long slacks and woolen sweaters.  Check a world map, and you'll see how much further north the UK is from the US.

Enjoy!  And safe travels.
