My daughters Spanish teacher sent out an email that there is going to be a meeting about the trip to Costa Rica.  In it she writes, "there seems to be a lot of questions and concerns."  I've spoken to a couple of other parents and it appears that they aren't allowing the daughter/son to go.  I do know it costs $2000.  The teacher also said a link to see a video about the trip.  There were students interviewed on it and I really don't think they were 8th graders.  They looked like seniors in High School or older.

As a former teacher my advice would be to put the money towards a nice educational trip when your child is older that maybe includes your family. My niece is going on a High School trip to Europe but her mom is making her earn the money although they could afford to pay it. Money does not grow on trees and its easier for people including teachers to spend the money of others.

Costa Rica tops the list of my all time favorite destinations. Went probably five times over the last decade and cannot wait to visit again. I was not a fan of the San Jose area and much prefered flying into LIberia and staying in the Guanacaste area. Nosara is one of the most magical towns and everyone is incredibly friendly.
