@crazered- wish I could help, but haven't been to that area for years. I understand your comments about Trip Advisor and the other websites. It drives me nuts to sit and look through all of the hotels that are listed on the travel sites - I guess I don't have the patience! Sometimes I just give up and call a travel agency....

I have been to the area twice, Siesta Key and Treasure Island Beach, both times we rented an apt/house for the week so I can not tell you what might be a good hotel motel to stay our

I visited Bradenton for an overnight in 1972.  I had just been transferred to Miami, and all of Florida was a blur to me at that time.  My future matron-of-honor visited a dear older friend of hers (I went along for the visit), and all I recall is an elderly lady in her home.
