I've only been to Florida once & we were thinking of going to the city of Boca Raton.. I'd like to make plans this week but I'm not sure if this time of year is good to visit..

I've been researching online but nothing really got my attention.. If I'm not mistaken, Boca Raton isn't affected by the Ride Tide..

Any input would kindly be appreciated.. Much thanks!!!.. I love these boards because one gets downright honest input..

@classic I found this.  I hope it helps you.  I posted this phrase:  How had Red Tide affected Bocca Raton in Sept 2018.  I didn't read all of it but maybe it will be up to date or help you.

I own a lot of property in Florida and know that it varies.

Yes, this would be a good time to visit.  It is still very much Summer in Florida.

The snowbirds will start filtering in daily but mostly in October.  It is an expensive but beautiful place to visit.  Many upscale places to shop.

I must thank you for posting that link.. It didn't say anything about the BR area I was looking at.. From being on these boards, I find your posts  to be one of the most helpful, kind hearted & very candid input ( which I so appreciate )..

I too am looking into buying something in Florida for the winter, with a place for the kids to go also. So, I figure going on a vacation I could check the place out..

I live in NY & my husband wants to go up to Niagara Falls or to Lake George.. He has some vacation coming & he's one to say let's just go.. I'm more the one who has to research things & then decide.. I do realize; seize the moments  when one can..

Have a great day!!

Not sure the Red Tide was the issue but friends of mine who had rented a week on the beach in Ft. Lauderdale in late July were not able to go into the ocean because of a huge barrier of plant growth for quite a few feet along the shoreline.  They hadn't planned to do much more than beach and sand, so they were quite disappointed.

Boca is north of where they were, but I have no current info for either place.  I do know Boca has great shopping, good museums, fabulous restaurants as well as the ocean access if it's okay at the time.  And the busy season and the season prices are still far away!

I like this time of year in SE Florida as long as the hurricane map is quiet.  Some days the high temperature will stay below 90 and nighttime will dip below 80 and you might even enjoy a slight afternoon breeze.  It's still hot and can be humid, but tends to be more comfortable than Orlando and Tampa are right now.

I live in Florida .. on the West Coast ....Boca is fun .. but don't forget to

check out Delray and Pompano Beach ...They are one right after the

other ...

You are going at a good time .. before the traffic from snowbirds gets

too bad ... It used to be Thanksgving time ... but now its more in October .....
