Antarcrtica trip.

[ Edited ]

My brother and his wife are world travelers.  But they still work (they are both lawyers) So each country they visit, they stay 2 weeks.  This year my brother decided to visit Antarctica.  It's a "rough" trip.  Meaning they supply you with boots and other equipment.  Because of that, my sister in law is not going.  He leaves in December.  Which I'm assuming is the summer. The rough part is the sea, especially where the oceans meet. Once in a while, the sea is mild, but most of the time very rough.  Anyway I'll find out more when he comes back.

I always wanted to travel all over the world, but my health and other circumstances never allowed me to fulfill that dream. So many unique and magnificent places on our planet! 🌎

@songbird   I've seen several TV  travel programs on this trip and it sounds interesting, but I think two weeks of exactly the same frozen scenery would be very monotonous.  I also would not care to experience the rough seas.

@songbirdI'm with your SIL on this.  Not my idea of a fun trip!  Sounds exciting for your brother though.

A fascinating and very expensive trip! I had several clients to it over the years and most reported it was a glorious trip of a lifetime. Congrats to those that have that opportunity!

LOL.!  You made me feel better.  I was gettting nervous about the trip.  He had been to the very end of the South Island in New Zealand.  And it suddenly popped into his head, gazing South.

Great book about a doctor in the South Pole who treats her breast cancer and does a biopsy on a lump.Title is "Ice Bound" by Dr. Jeri Nelson. She is very courageous.

This is on my bucket list!

Viking does a cruise there and some excursions, starting around $15,000.00 for two weeks. The trip is not completely "rough," since you are taken care of very well on the ship.

However, sometimes the ocean can be wild, especially through Drake Passage--a rogue wave hit a Viking ship in 2022, and one person died.

I suppose if you like adventure, and nature, and want to visit all the continents, this trip would be for you. Of course, it will be pretty cold.

Hopefully I will be healthy enough to accomplish a visit in the future!
