@rockygems123 She bought for herself a beautiful string of polished turquoise nuggets and a gorgeous pendant. The pendant was unusual in ovyx and mother of pearl. Vertical insets in oval pendant on a multi strand seed pearl necklace. Very art deco looking and not your traditional Indian sort of piece. She's an artist and attends a lot of formal events, gallery openings, etc., so I think she'll get a lot of use out of it.

@Kachina624. What a wonderful trip your friends must have had.
I did not have a reservation when I took the tram in May. I wasn't sure what time I would get there as I was house hunting in the morning. It wasn't crowded so they let me buy a ticket right at the window. I didn't eat at the restaurant. I had looked at the menu online and thought it pricey. I had a great time though and the views are magnificent.

@Travone Hows the house hunting going? Have you found "the one" yet?
I've been up on the tram probably a dozen times and still always get a thrill out of it. it's especially appealing now since its so cool up there while it's so hot down here (98°).

@Kachina624. No new updates on the house hunting. I get updates every day. I'm going to Arizona in November and hope to decide "where" by year end. I'm not retiring until December 2024, so I have time. But, if I had to decide today, it would be Alegria in Bernillo.

@Kachina624 Beautiful travelogue! I did the tram ride years ago, but no dinner. If and when we return, will skip dinner at the top.
Sorry your meal was a disappointment. An expensive dinner is one thing, if the food matched the ambiance, otherwise hard not to feel like a rip off.

@Kachina624 wrote:@OKPrincess You'll just have to come back. It's closed one day a week for maintenance and every morning an employee sits on top of the tram car and rides it up, sitting where he can inspect the cables. Not a job I'd want!
@Kachina624 We were with a bus group and the day scheduled to ride the tram was the day it was scheduled for maintenance. Anyway we had fun doing others things and love to return one day.

@Travone Bernalillo is very historic and interesting. They have an active historical society. If you decide to settle there, you must get involved.
The Conquistadore, Coronado camped there with his troops for an extended period. He was injured in a horse accident while roaming the mountains and was brought to a building behind The Range Cafe to recover, which he eventually did, and returned to his family in Mexico.
First horse race ever in the US was held in Bernalillo, so it's said.

We are planning on a trip back to ABQ in August for our anniversary. We will probably ride the tram but won't bother with the restaurant per your review. Glad to know you have to get tickets online. What day of the week are they closed? Doesn't sound very customer-friendly anymore. We had our rehearsal dinner there when it was called High Finance. The food was wonderful and it was steakhouse worth the price.
