Re: Who Is QVCs Target Audience

[ Edited ]

I believe there are many shopping channel addicts and a lot of them are on these boards. Going by the comments of how many items they own in certain categories, mind boggling numbers of unopened products that can't be used in one lifetime; clothing they bought a year ago with tags still on, etc. I think QVC caters to the impulse buyer, the woman who gets a rush from a sale price, a time limited mark down, the thrill of "getting it before it sells out". Sure, a lot of items probably get returned but I'm guessing that the overall revenue from this type of buyer remains solid.
I have nothing to substantiate any of this. Just a hunch based on my observations. And I suspect there are many more closet shopping addicts who don't care to divulge their level of credit card debt, or how many hundreds of dollars they spend monthly on easy pays

Re: Who Is QVCs Target Audience

[ Edited ]

I'd pay whatever price is given IF the style and quality was available! Sadly, I haven't seen high quality 100% natural fabrics styled well with darts, pleats, zipper closures, buttons on the sleeve cuffs, semi-fitted to the body with real waistbands; tailored sleeves, plackets, collars, and trousers.

And I've almost worn/dry cleaned all my blouses and dresses made of silk! I need to find another place to buy classic styles with top quality silk fabrics for my wardrobe. Nothing is cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter than silk! It insulates in any weather due to the natural properties inherient in the fabric PLUS it's so comfortable and pretty.

At one time, QVC sold pretty blouses! Imagine that? They had great buyers, professional hosts and upscale fashions! Shopping on QVC was worth the time spent watching and it was interesting. Nothing like todays hosts with there "stories to tell" and entertainment sing-songs which have nothing to do with products being sold. Nothing like the shapeless things  in strange, bold prints which are considered "modern and new" which are being sold as clothing. All the hosts keep saying "I can't even . . . . " about various products. What does THAT mean? Most hosts cannot complete a sentence!

There are a couple hosts that I simply cannot watch. And won't. Ever.

QVC is suffering. So are the viewers. Watching the videos of items I interested in seems to be the only alternative which has worked for me in the past several years. I don't miss watching live QVC at all.

Money screams; wealth whispers.

Re: Who Is QVCs Target Audience

For me, I don't have the time to go  shooping at traditional B&M  as I  did in yrs past .

I order from other online companies   & QVC to replace some  of my worn out wardrobe basics . Occassionally , I by something new to up date some of my  outfits.

I needed more casual clothes after retiring , however I don't wear PJ's  out to buy groceries !

Re: Who Is QVCs Target Audience

My buying habits from QVC started a decrease when they took away the "Insider" magazine and it's perks.  For whatever reason, this set-up made me feel valued and special (in my own mind).

Then, I continued to lose interest in purchases when they started showing "previously aired" presentations.  Numbers, sizes, colors, and prices were not accurate. Plus, the same hosts over and over again instead of their newer hires.

I still buy from QVC. Mostly beauty items, KC and Rastelli's top values, but very few clothing and shoes purchases lately.

Re: Who Is QVCs Target Audience

I can afford the prices QVC charges, but at my age, I don't need many new clothes or items for the home.
And if I do, I'd rather spend the money locally where I can examine the quality and fit.

Re: Who Is QVCs Target Audience

Let's see --the target audience is mainly--WOMEN!

Well, I cannot imagine bothering to be on these forums if I did not shop at QVC. It took me many, many years before I would even write a review, and I did not start posting here until I semi-retired, and had more time.

I started buying gold jewelry from Lisa Robertson a few decades ago, because the variety was great, the styles were unique, and the prices were fantastic.

Eventually I started buying clothes here, and then I fell in love with a few brands, which I still purchase today.  I buy mainly fun and casual clothes here.  I also think the quality is pretty good (nice fabric, well made).

I have always had a professional career, and I love cruises, so the clothes I never purchased at QVC were business outfits (suits), and short and long dressy sequin gowns, all of which cost a lot more than any clothes from QVC.  Therefore, I have never found QVC clothes pricey at all.  Lucky for me I also had multiple QVC outlets nearby, so I could pick up many bargains.  I also love shopping lunch time specials.

Nowadays I have more than I need, but I still like something new a few times a year.  These years I am starting to spend much more on other things than clothes and jewelry, but that is my choice, not because I think QVC is overpriced.  I am actually happy with all the great prices I paid in the past!

Re: Who Is QVCs Target Audience

When I asked Google...this came up:

Who is the target audience of QVC?

Audience composition can reveal a site's current market share across various audiences. qvc.com's audience is 35.90% male and 64.10% female. The largest age group of visitors are 55 - 64 year olds (Desktop).

Re: Who Is QVCs Target Audience

I am comfortably retired.  I can afford what I need and also in most cases what I want.  However I WILL NOT OVERPAY if I can help it.  The items on the Q are overpriced as I see it.  Better quality, not really sure.  I buy for style and color.  Best price gets my business and that includes  Walmart, Costco and Zulily.  I have a closet full but I never ever pay over a certain price point.

Re: Who Is QVCs Target Audience

It’s obvious who they want as their target audience. Young! It will never happen with the kind of clothing items sold on QVC. The Studio Park lines are an attempt shift to the younger demographic. Enticing by trend.

I don’t see it happening. QVC is an outdated model. The real target audience got hooked by watching. Today the younger demographics won’t do that.

They are too overpriced for trend. Younger shoppers know that. They shop cheap for trend. It is never worth paying a high price for something they will not wear the next season.

The demographic that is their target audience is not influenced by trend. We read it on the boards. So many here are older and say it. I wear what I like. I don’t do trends.

QVC is in trouble.
