Switching from WIN 7-64bit to MAC?

I don't have any Mac products...own a Dell Desktop,Win7

How is Mac different from a traditonal OS such as Windows?

Can I transfer programs (such as Adobe Photoshop Elements 8, and Windows Live Mail) can I transfer to MAC? What cable or program is needed to transfer files?

Not being tech saavy--mostly just use the aforementioned programs, would you say the Mac would be a good choice for me?

If I can't Skype with this Mac....what other options do I have?
