All of this gem day jewelry is too expensive for my budget and my lifestyle. Many of the styles are just not appealing to me at all. To spend that kind of money and have it sit in the jewelry box most of the time would not be cost effective.

The only  thing the TS ruby ring did for me... was to make me go to my jewelry chest and put on a Burmese Ruby ring I bought off of HSN 15 years ago... it is a one carat center stone with white topaz surounding it... and more rubies down each side of the flank of the ring  and more white topaz down the flank on either side of the rubies all set in gold. Very pretty! I have not worn it in many years and am enjoying it again as if it were new! Smiley Happy

A year ago almost exactly, I bought a largish (3 carat approx) ruby, white topaz, 2 small ruby accent stones, platinum coated sterling ring from JTV. It was ridiculously cheap, so I knew it would be opaque - and it was, totally opaque, but a true red ruby color with very little pink. I had no illusions as to quality/worth.

The TSV stone looks only slightly better. I'm sure the band is thin and hollow, the ring generally fragile, and loss of some of the diamonds inevitable.

I was totally okay with my purchase at less than $100. $500 for a stone little better, micro-diamonds and fragile thin, hollow gold? I wouldn't do it.

I really like the look of the TSV, which is kind of funny because I'm not a huge ring person.

Since I don't want to cough up the $500, I'll likely order this ring in the sterling or 14k gold clad version (J330107, priced at $64) instead.

I've noticed the quality of every TSV the past couple of years has gone down.  It seems like the item was made by cutting corners on the quality to keep the price lower so they can offer it as a TSV when in reality most of the customer reviews are poor when they actually see what they've purchased.  As an example-look at the reviews of the Clarks shoes that have been TSVs in the past year.  They all get 2 stars at most.  I've learned to steer clear of the TSVs & just stick to the items that have good reviews.
