Re: Mama Mancini's Meatballs TSV 12/8

Ordered MM's once - there was smell (and taste) that was awful.  Perhaps it was their choice of imported cheese I'm not use to...........asked for refund...got it...and dumped it all down the disposal.

Just had the steak guy's (Rosini - never can remember how to spell)...and delicious!  I don't like little hard meatballs like hockey pucks.  "R" are big - made with the 3 types of meat - fluffy and the sauce is AAAA.  Reviews say need more sauce - but they all say that.

It's enough for me.............

@nana59   My family doesn't have a real written recipe.  We dump and taste.

But here goes.

Use a mixture of ground beef or  3 parts beef, 1 part ground pork.

Add raw eggs, onions chopped small, lots of Freshly grated Parm and Romano cheese

salt, pepper and lots of fresh parsley and fresh bread.  Wet the bread and squeeze out moisture then tear and smush into small pieces.  Mix well.

Roll into tight ballls, if too loose, they will fall apart while cooking.  Fry in a little olive oil until brown on the outside.

My sisters bake them in the oven on a cookie sheet.  I don't,  but that works well too.

wonder what the quantity is.....

Whatever the quantity is, I'm SURE these meatballs will be RIDICULOUSLY OVERPRICED.

Chef Alex Guarnachelli's 3 lbs.of lamb meatballs are priced at $104 - $35 a pound. WHAT A TOTAL RIP-OFF!!!!!

Re: Mama Mancini's Meatballs TSV 12/8

We have Shape Store Master maker silicone trays that snap together and one set makes hamburger patties (5 oz.) and one makes sort of flat meatballs (you could shape them into rounds after they thaw).

It's two trays and you press the meat in one (2 lbs for the burgers) and press the top piece on, store in the freezer until they freeze and you can store them in the freezer like that or take the individual meats out and store them that way.

They are commonly available and we love them!

I bought a 3 lb container that had two 1.5 lb bags at Sam's Club for 9.99 and though they were pretty good.

How can QVC charge 49.99 for a little over 6 lbs?!?!?!?!

When I saw Alberti cutting them, they looked dried out. You couldn't give them to me.

Expensive, as usual, and way too many carbs for me.  Easy pass

Re: Mama Mancini's Meatballs TSV 12/8

If you are in the vicinity of a Publix supermarket, they make their own meatballs fresh daily.  They are excellent.

When we snowbird, we have them at least once a week.  Of course, the first thing I do in the kitchen is make up a very large batch of my marinara sauce to last the 3 months there.

One night about 7:30, DH went to pick up a package of them but nothing left in the case.  Someone actually offered to make up some if he would wait a few minutes !

love that store and their cranberry nut bread....getting close to departure time !!!
