I've always wanted a leCreuset in licorice ,   But they seem to be very, very heavy.   This one is 10 lbs not too bad ,  some I've seen are very heavy !   The thing about this one is the interior is small 7x41/2 .  If cooking for more then  2 or even 2 if you want to make enough  for 2 days .   If I'm making  for 4 people for it couldn fit even chicken.   Now a 5 lbs roast woud work .   It depends on what your cooking I guess .  I would prefer a 6qt.

i presently have another cast iron from another company   It's 15 yrs old and still works well .  I can do a large chili, 8 lbs roast with vegetables, chicken cacciatore, large batch of spaghetti sauce with meatballs, sausage, and braciole, plenty of room.

@Kitty Galore LC says that the number in the lid indicates how many it will feed and what size chicken--as a 22 will feed two and do a 2 pound "bird".  We use our 4.5 sizes most and that's 2 meals for the 2 of us.

LC also shows birds stuffed in the oval casseroles with little room to spare.  And honestly they do cook better.  One thing I learned from them is food cooked in a pot too large doesn't come out too well--and that's especially true for a crock pot.

Re: Le Creuset TSV - November 9, 2025

I use mine every week in the Winter. I bought an older model, knob handle without the  orange box on Ebay a few years ago in licorice. $180.00 It has a black interior that doesn't stain like the cream colored ones.

I have a smaller one that gets stained. I use the  Le Creuset special cleaner which helps. Some say it is part of the Le Creuset  use's history and normal. I use that one with more watery bases not to stain as badly. I use medium high and when boiling turn down to medium or low to cook.

There is a recipe that Nate said he would post on social media.  Can someone tell me where I would find that?  I'm not really very familiar with this.  Thank you.

I will report back that I got the bread oven from Sams, less then $40, in the red and it is beautiful!  I just baked bread in it (had the loaf ready to throw in the oven when we got home) and it worked great.

The number on the lid and the bottom of the pot is the size of that lid/pot in centimeters.

. For example, a "24" indicates a 24cm pot, which is often a 3.5 or 4.5-quart Dutch oven. This measurement is stamped on the lid and often on the bottom of the pot as well, helping to identify the size of the cookware. "

Thank you for the shopping tip and the update! I've been eyeing those bread cloches for a long time.

Since I'm not a member of Sam's, buying it online will cost me $60+ with shipping and their 10 percent non-member free. Still, not bad. Still thinking about it.

Again...thank you for the tip! Woman Very Happy

@AuntMame As another hint, the "red" one is a beautiful maroon color and very glossy.  The gold knob sets it off.

I used a recipe with 2 cups of flour, could easily gone to a 3 cup or a little more.  Two cups is about a 1 lb loaf in the bread machine I think.  Three cups 1.5, and four a 2 lb?  I may be a little off on this, but close.

Thanks for the tips! I like the red one too.

I was going to ask how large of a loaf one could bake in it. I usually bake 2-3 cup loaves in my Dutch oven.

I see QVC now carries the Le Creuset bread cloche, but man that price.

Again...thank you for the tips!

I just wish QVC would teach the host how to pronounce the name correctly.  It is Le Creuset, not La Creuset, and not Les Creuset.   It shows ignorance.

I took the plunge and bought a bread cloche off Amazon for $40. Love it! I've been experimenting with it. It can easily hold a 4-cups-of-flour loaf. Also discovered that if I preheat the lid (450F for 20-30 minutes) I can get a nice crackling bread crust just like when I bake in my cast-iron Dutch oven.

But what I most like about it is that's so much easier--and lighter--to lift in and out of the oven than my heavy Dutch oven.

Again...thank you for the recommendation!

By the way, I bought it in cranberry too. Amazon is selling gold replacement Dutch oven knobs for $10 for a package of 4. So I bought one of those too to swap out the silver knob and make it look a bit more festive.
