Re: INSECT ZAPPER

[ Edited ]

@Kachina624

Oh, my.  Reading about your experience just made queasy.

The loss of a parent is terrible enough, but to lose her this way must have been a knife to your heart.

In Maryland, we have had cases of WNV, and it does scare me a great deal as I am forever being bitten by something.

To live 88 years and then lose your life to such a thing is so sad.

Re: INSECT ZAPPER

[ Edited ]

Mine arrived yesterday and I will be setting them up this week.  All unpacked and ready to go.

And, the rain just stopped (after 20 days!), so the mosquitos will be ready and waiting.

I bought two of the small ones for DH's huge, two level garage as he works outside on all his trucks.  I'm hoping it will help with flies, etc.  He never complains, but when I got out there, all the buzzing/flying things makes me edgyWoman LOL   But then he NEVER has a bite of any kind.  They always choose ME!

Will post back at some point as to how they are working.

The reviews on Amazon are not very good for this TSV and it states that it mostly kills moths as well as frogs, dragonflies and lizards.

I can attest to this as I once had one very similar and I just could not stomach all of the little critters it was killing. I live in Florida and seeing dead chameleons which are becoming scarce here is not something I want to contribute to.

For that reason, "I'm out!"

@SuzieQueAre you sure you read reviews for the right product?  Seriously, the opening isn't big enough for a frog, a dragonfly would have to work at getting in, a lizard would have to jump to get into it...and NONE of those things are even attracted to it.

This product is supposed to be hung 5 to 6 ft. off the ground.  Not sure a frog or lizard could make that leap.  But, then, not sure why they would try.

As @esmerelda said, it only attracts certain insects.  Possibly something could get in, but I'm not sure how.  Mine is hanging out in the woods and has been up several days.

Mostly, I'm seeing flies, moths and other tiny insects.

I remain hopeful that it will make summer outside more tolerable.

It is not a Zapper, I purchased the large one and placed it behind my pool area away from my home, deck, patio and as of yet I hsve not seen more than 2-8 bugs in it..yet my neighbor's Zapper that is only on in the evenings have been frying every insect by the dozens!,

I must also add my two cents regarding Bats, beside the fact that I have this "TRAP" not zapper..I reside in NJ and had ocer 300 bats in my attice above our third floor bedrooms. Well, NJ has laws against killing Bats..we had to spend $2000 and wait a year to have all the bats grow old enough to fly out on their own and seal the openings of our home leaving cone shaped openings for any Bats to leave but not return! The Bats weren;t the problem, their droppings spread dosease when dispersed, causing even MORE problems...

I cannot even imagine this.   You have my sympathy!

I think I would have moved out of the house until this process was over and a thorough sterilization of the space was performed!

I actually have this item & it really does work, i keep it in the house near the door, since we don't have an outlet outside & it catches all the mosquotes, that use to get into the house & eat us like zombies LOL.  They even have the Large Acre size at some local Marshalls for $129.99 i was shocked, when i saw it there.

I purchased this last year and it ended up in my garbage can.  The only bugs it "zapped" were very small harmless little creatures.  No bees, No wasps, No flies!!  I wasted my money and learned my lesson.
