We got some unexpected freezing rain today so I have a thin layer of ice on my windshield. We are supposed to get snow overnight. Is it safe to put my frostguard on with a little ice already on the windshield?
I'm a little worried about it freezing in place and not being able to get it off. It's not actually snowing or raining now and hasn't for a few hours.

I don't know if you could put it on top of the icy windshield but I would be afraid it might stick to it. I would wait to put it on a clean windshield. I have one but haven't used it yet!

i wouldn't put it on an icy windshield either. i'd be afraid it would stick and rip, or worse and fall off the windshield due to the wind and ice. since it isn't raining or snowing now, why not warm you car up now and get the ice off then put it on?

The Delk website doesn't have an FAQ section unfortunately. You could call their 800 number tomorrow but then will be too late.

I got one last year. It works pretty well on a dry windshield. That said, don't put it on a wet or frosty windshield. It will stick if the weather turns freezing. That's kind of the problem with this product- you take it off a dry windshield, and it's great- but then you can't put that wet cover back on until it's all dried on the inside, on a dry windshield. It really limits the usefulness of the product.

Well I took one for the team and went ahead and put it on. Got a bunch of snow last night. It worked perfectly and it's not stuck to the windshield at all. It lifted right up. Of course the ice that was already on the windshield is still there but that's to be expected. The highest it's been is 16 degrees since I put it on last night and it was 0 degrees then.

Put it on last night. No snow, but a big frost. It was nice not having to scrape it off.

Nope not at all. I live in a small town where people look out for each other and have law enforcement living on my street.
