I have the Fitbit One and just love it. I wear it clipped to the front of my bra. I bought it in April and have lost 9 lbs. so far. It's a great tool for keeping you active and, if you follow their calorie recommendations and are diligent in monitoring your food, you will lose weight (if that's your goal).

I prefer the One over the Flex because I feel it's better able to track my steps because it's worn on my torso as opposed to wrist.

This morning Carolyn was saying that you could use the TS while ironing to record your steps....( she was selling the Rowenta iron at the time)..... I do not think you walk much when ironing and feel this statement is false. I suppose you COULD walk in place, but, I doubt many people would walk in place while ironing.{#emotions_dlg.blink}

I hope she was making a joke! {#emotions_dlg.blink}

Gazelle, you also asked if you can transfer your info from the FitBit Zip if you start using the Flex. Please ask CS. I Googled it different ways and could not find anything about that. I think they use the same app and you have an account you use to log into that app so I think it would transfer but I'm not sure.

You can update you account online to change it to the Flex from the Zip and keep all your info. But, you can only have one device per account. I updated from a Zip to the Flex and passed the Zip onto my step-daughter.

I just ordered it. Mine won't ship till June 24 (I think that was the new date). I am excited because it seems that there is a lot of motivational info on-line for this product as well as a FB page. I really need to move and hope it's everything that I need for the motivation I sorely need. I have never tried one of these things, so I am looking forward. {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

My hairdresser is a long distance runner. She belongs to running clubs. She's my age (I'm 67 years old). We went to college together.

She wears a black band on her arm. I mentioned the Fizbit thing. She said she wears another kind.

She said they all do pretty much the same thing. I have one that says it won't be here til way later in the month.

I'm debating on if I should cancel it. I wanted to get it for my 33 year old daughter. Every weekend she either goes skiing or camping (she's very active, but just had 1/2 of her thyroid removed).

She just called and said she is experiencing extreme tiredness. I mention this because I'm wondering if the Fitzbit thing would help her or it might make her overwork her body right now trying to keep track of what it does.

It's only around $20. Could they have made it any cheaper to try. That always makes me suspicious when something like that is done. Maybe it sounds dumb but like, "OK, what's wrong with it that you want to make sure people try it because it's so cheap?"

It won't be here for awhile, I guess I'll keep it and do some research. It's so little. How good can it be?

A question about the fit. Should I order a small and have a more snug fit, or a medium where it can move a bit on my wrist? I am unsure of how it is best to wear all day and night. Thank- you!

question. I currently have the zip. If I buy the TS bracelet.... would my current account with the zip, mesh together and incorporate the new bracelet? I guess I was wondering if I could use both if I chose to.

I heard them say during one presentation that it does work that way. When you get a new Fitbit you just open the Fitbit Connect icon & click on the "set up a new Fitbit device." You won't lose any info from the first one.

I ordered it, as an adjunct to joining Curves next week. I am almost 5 years post-chemo, and keep waiting for my energy to come back. Sitting at the computer or on the couch watching tv, I have put on a lot of unhealthy weight. I need structure and support and so I bought the Fitbit as encouragement plus I love gadgets.

With the exception of post-chemo, I am with you! I have tried wearing a pedometer & they fall off, are uncomfortable, etc. this looks cute on, tracks what I want & love it will tell me about sleep too. Looking forward to getting it & glad I ordered this morning - hope to have it this week...maybe...... I think it will motivate me - I have been walking but not much.

This review from Amazon sums up the pros/cons the best:

The Flex is pretty good - IF you understand its limitations.

The underlying technological problem, as I see it, is in the placement of the tracker. Up until now, Fitbit trackers were to be placed on the torso. Now, it must be placed on the wrist (yes, the tracker itself can be taken out of the wristband and put into your pocket but all of Fitbit's calibrations and algorithms are designed for that wrist placement and you are making the problem worse by not having it on your wrist). So, if your wrist movement is ANYTHING other than the usual movement of either running or walking, your step count/mileage is going to be off - often way, way off.

Fitbit markets the Flex as an "activity monitor", implying that it is capable of keeping stats on your physical activities. Well, because of the wrist location issue and the basic design structure of using two stride lengths for all calculations (your walking and running stride lengths), pretty much any activity that is NOT walking or running cannot be accurately monitored: the accelerometer senses whether you are walking or running and multiplies the appropriate stride length by the number of steps sensed (and arrives at a mileage distance). Any activity outside of that limited ability of the Flex, your stats are innacurate. This includes stair-climbing, hiking, tennis, golf, biking, working out, and pretty much every other "activity" that is not walking or running. The Flex is not really an "activity monitor".

There are, however, aspects of the Flex that are quite good: it does accurately keep track of your walking and running, it does keep track of your sleeping patterns, and it also wakes you with a silent vibration on your wrist at the time you set to get up in the morning. And once out of bed and into the shower, there's no need to take the Flex off: it's almost completely waterproof (pressurized water being the exception). But the best, perhaps life-enhancing aspect of the Flex is its ability to keep you focused on your exercise goals (which is the main reason why, overall, I like the device and its software - to a point): if you DO consider it only a pedometer with cool software, which is what I consider it to be, you will not be disappointed (though the price may not seem worth it to others).

So, do I understand this to say that if I were wearing it at work and was walking down the hall carrying something and my arms were not swinging at my side, my steps would not be counted?
