KJPA, I am interested in the social aspect but don't know anyone who has one. Are there just groups you can join?

Also, I wonder if a new version is coming soon. I was going to hold off and wait for a new version but I decided if a new version came out that I felt I had to have I could always give this one to my sister.

You can set up your own groups with your friends or use the data from all users to gauge how you are doing...there is even a trainer app that lets you know how much more you need to do to make your goals (but you can look that up pretty easily).

There are apps that cost extra...about $1 a week to get all the info.

You also can sign up at no extra charge to get mid week reports.

I bought the Flex when it first came out over a year ago. I wore it for a day or two. I returned it and got the Zip instead. I have small wrists and found the Flex to be bulky and uncomfortable to wear. The Q's price is no great deal. You can get them at Target and Best Buy,

I prefer the cheaper ZIP because it is less conspicuous.

Fitbit has a forum. They probably have sub-groups & challenges. MyFitnessPal has Fitbit groups, too.

I am not a fan of social networks, don't share my info, & don't join private groups but I know many need the support & motivation. It can be very helpful & fun. I'd rather just be supportive on an open forum.

I just want to put this out there for those that are considering the FitBit - my friend recently purchased one. Just two days ago while she was at my house she all of a sudden realized it wasn't on her wrist. She was so upset and frantically looking all over my house - AND outside (since we are on the deck and swimming in the afternoon). Finally she found it in my 14 yr old daughter's fleece blanket. I guess she was sitting on the couch with my daughter and the end of the strap got caught on the blanket and pulled it completely off. Thank goodness it was at my house - what an expensive item to lose so easily!!

After she found it, I was like let me see that. All it has are two metal clips that you push through the slits in the wristband. It's not like a watch band. I can see why it came off so easily. This is what keeps me from ordering the TSV today Smiley Sad

I've had mine since January...love it! yes...fancy pedometer. Yes....not specifically accurate. But for me, it works. It reminds me that I need to move more! I love that it syncs wirelessly....it's a chore to track stuff manually (like food...sure wish I could do that via ESP or something!! ha! ha!).

I'm a measurer...so I like to compare my activity through the week...that's why for me, the specific accuracy isn't important...it's accurate enough that I can compare myself from day to day. I do take it off when I know I'm doing something that it's going to track that doesn't need to track...so that solves the problem of over tracking.

As for the jewelry aspect...yea...not gorgeous, but it's just become part of me! Tory Burch is suppose to be coming out with some sort of flex band...but that was back in the spring. Haven't seen it yet. Would love something silver and one gold so that it can coordinate better than my black band. Smiley Happy

If it was a better deal I was going to go for it... but I think I'll wait and hold out for the Tory Burch designs and new technology coming soon. Things like this I almost prefer an actual store... or at least one with free return shipping.

I've had my Flex now for almost a year. During that time, I've kept my weight down and I've increased walking distance and time. I love my Flex. I've not had a bit of trouble with it as far as the battery or losing it, and I wear it 24/7....I'm not vain enough to worry about it matching jewelry; I'm more worried about keeping fit. And the Fitbit helps me. I do take it off for showers, but then I put it right back on.

I had some trouble with the FitBit keeping track of my time on my elliptical. But I read that putting the Flex in your pants pocket will help it keep better track of elliptical work. And that's true.

I like receiving emails every week about my mileage and how many steps I've taken. It keeps me motivated to continue to do better. And I love when it vibrates to tell me that I've met my step goals for the day.

I work my Fitbit in tandem with My Fitness Pal; they are synced together on the computer. I also have the Fitbit mobile app for my phone, so it can sync in that way, too.

It's a good system and it helps me.

ETA: This is something I would not buy through QVC.....I prefer a regular store in case it needs to be returned, exchanged, etc. I got mine at Best Buy.

This is just personal preference, but I will not buy anything at Best Buy. I had a terrible time returning something there. I would much rather buy it from QVC. Target and Costco are also great about returns. (I really don't return things very often, but I like a store with a good return policy.)
