Re: Dyson Hair Care TSV - April 24, 2024

At about 8:00 this morning I opened the email for this, it was sold out and unavailable. Then at 2:00 this afternoon I get an email for this allowing me to purchase it if I wish. Did they all of a sudden get more merchandise or did people decide they didn't want it and cancelled their order? At $600 there was no way I was purchasing this.

Many people learn how to "do" their hair. I know a woman with boys and a husband who learned to cut hair w/an online tutorial.

Well, if you missed out, I walked into Ulta today to a large display of the same at the same price.  I checked online, and they also have the non-limited edition one in two versions, one including a diffuser.

I don't think it's hard to cut hair, but I think it's very hard to cut hair well.

I have an Airwrap and I think I get almost salon quality results when I style my hair with it.  I got mine with Ulta rewards points, but I'm so happy with it, I'd probably shell out $600 for it.  Many of you clearly wouldn't and that's ok too.  In the words of the urban philosopher 2-Chainz, "my money, I spend it."

I don't get all the angst this forum sees on a daily basis over a product you're not interested in.  If QVC is showing something I don't want, need, or can't afford, I just move on with my day.  Some of you need a hobby.

Re: Dyson Hair Care TSV - April 24, 2024

Thanks @CamilleP.  I have sort of straight textured hair.  If I let it air dry and just use the TrianglPro and get a good blowout look.  The Perfecter was her first styler, and I actually liked it very much, but the bristles broke off, and I think many users complained that it was too hot for them.  So they tinkered with it, I know I bought several iterations.  The newest versions I tried were just not strong (hot?) enough for my textured hair, but the TrianglPro does work well.  I understand that the heat is bad for my hair, however, and the TrianglPro does not give any shine, so I may be looking for an upgrade.  If by Beachwaver you are referring to that rotating thing, I did try it and I did not care for it.  It wrapped the hair too fast, so I couldn't style decently.  So that went to the trash heap.  If I want some curls, I just use a wand style iron, wrap my hair around it and wait a few seconds.  My hair does take shape, whether straight or curl.  But not shiny!  And humidity will kill any style in a second.

Never tried the AirGlide and I am not familiar with it.  Does THAT leave the hair shiny?  Your experience with the AirGlide sounds like mine with the Perfecter.  I liked the original, but too hot for others, too prone to breakage.  Maybe heat is the issue with the new AirGlide?  I will probably just try the Corrale, I think, because I want the shine.  I do double process color at a salon, and sometimes help out between the processes by drying my own hair and I have used my hair stylist's Dyson blow dryer and it is super fast.  But I have not tried to do a style, because my stylist is going to apply bleach and shampoo after that first dry, so I don't want to add unnecessary styling heat.  At home, I usually just air dry, so the blow dryer is probably not a good investment for me.

I just watched Beyonce's hair video.  She uses like 4 different styling methods for one hair style.  I think she blow dryed with a Dyson brush, and straightened with a flat iron that may be the Corrale. Hard to see.  Her hair looked super shiny, though that may have been an undisclosed hair treatment.  Who knows?  She then set her hair by curling it with pins, and styled with a ponytail.  Ugh!  I was tired just watching.  Since my hair is not curly, nor as textured as Beyonce's, I think maybe the flat iron by itself may work for me, though i understand what you are saying about the curls.

Won't know how it will work for me til I try, thanks so much for sharing your experience.  I will wait for an Amazon Day to shop for the Corrale, I think.

My stylist does not leave my hair shiny, but I don't think she styles with a Dyson or uses great products.  I think she feels hair products interfere with the style she wants to give me.  She will do straight or curl, whatever I request.  Sometimes a flat iron for the unruly baby hair, which I do at home too.

@Icegoddess QVC is offering a dyson hair dryer with diffuser for $430, $1 more than Amazon.  Maybe it was cheaper yesterday, don't know , wasn't watching.  But I could have sworn I saw this morning an airwrap with a diffuser in Amazon for less than the $600 that they were and are selling the QVC airwrap kit, but I went back to look now, and see that all the versions of the airwrap are at $600 in Amazon.  I didn't mention earlier the lower price because you didn't seem interested.  But if you are interested in a sale price, I am happy to keep an eye out for you, just let me know.  Amazon knows I am a hair junkie and keeps me informed.

Re: Dyson Hair Care TSV - April 24, 2024

@NYCLatinaMe   The Calista AirGlide was Maria McCool's most recent TSV, it was the "Pro" model.  The original version was also a TSV, a year or so ago.  I have to say, I don't think the Calista tool leaves my hair as shiny as the Dyson Corale does, but  the AirGlide offers more of a temperature range, it gets both cooler and hotter than the Dyson, 5 settings versus 3.  If you just want a "two plate" device to straighten with, even though it's more expensive, I suspect you'll be happier with the Dyson Corale.  However, you can always order the Calista from QVC, try it, and if you don't like it, send it back, I don't think it's priced much higher right now than it was as a TSV.  I also think you can buy refurbished Dyson products on Amazon, I seem to remember seeing that.  Also, somebody else posting on this very thread mentioned something about Dyson coming out with a new tool soon, maybe it will be even better than the Corale, I don't know.  Hope this helps you decide.

Re: Dyson Hair Care TSV - April 24, 2024

@NYCLatinaMe Thanks, but no, I'm not interested.  I would never pay that for a hair dryer, but that's just me.  I know there is no hair dryer that is going to make that much difference in my hair.  I was just amused at the presentation at midnight when the presenter said it included all tools imaginable, but yet it didn't include a diffuser and I knew I had remembered seeing a diffuser presented with the Airwrap at one time.  I get perms so I don't have to style my hair.  Now, if there was something that would make that perm actually permanent, I would pay $600 for that, or even more.

Re: Dyson Hair Care TSV - April 24, 2024

@Icegoddess   Sorry to butt into your conversation, but you mentioned that you get perms, but wished they'd last longer.  I used to have that same problem, within 6-9 months my permed hair would be straight again, it resisted the permanent process.  That changed when I went to a new hair salon and they gave me an Olaplex perm.  They were just experimenting at the time and only used the bond-strenghthening solution along with the neutralizing solution.  That perm never relaxed, the hair never straightened, it was curly until it was cut off in progressive haircuts.  I'm considering getting another perm, and discussed it at my last haircut, and now they use the Olaplex bond strengthener in both the perm solution and the neutralizer, they feel it helps prevent some of the damage a perm can do.  I didn't realize it at first, but it appears that the salon I go to is actually part of a chain, it's just called "The Salon", and I think it's always partnered with a men's facility always called "The Shop".  I suspect that if one facility uses Olaplex, the whole chain does, even if they are all operated by different franchisers.  I don't know if it's a national chain, or just regional, I live in the Pacific Northwest, fyi.  Anyway, even if you don't change salons, discuss using an Olaplex bond strenghtener solution in your next perm with your stylist, maybe it will do for you what it did for me?
