Re: Bernini TSV - April 4, 2026

I've bought several Bernini hoses through the past 6 years and they've all sprung leaks after a season or two. I love all the features: lightweight, doesn't kink, easy to roll up on my hose reel. I don't like the nozzle that you can't turn off. I keep a hose at the burn barrel but don't want the water to run all the time. The diameter isn't mentioned but those I've had in the past were small (can't remember the sizes now) which means the water pressure isn't good. I don't like that it's expandable, when I use it with a sprinkler, I want it to stay where I put it. The filter doesn't interest me; I've used unfiltered water on my yard for decades and have never felt a need for one. I don't need one more thing where I have to buy filters. They don't mention the diameter, the fact that you can't turn off the nozzle, and if there's a warranty. When all of mine broke in the past, I never could get any response at all from Bernini. QVC just told me to contact the manufacturer. I'll pass on this one, even though I really could use a new hose.

I haven't had problems with water pressure, at either of my homes where I've used metal hoses.  I wash my car, water plants at the far end of the property, spray down the siding on my house after pollen season.

I very had one of these hoses for about 3 years.  It's the worst hose I've ever owned.  I've vowed to get rid of it this summer.

The problem is the diameter of the hose is much smaller than most so the water pressure is very light, not enough to hose off a car or spray off pavement.  It takes forever to fill the birdbath.  This fault negates any good qualities it might have.

@Kachina624  Excellent call-out!

Found on the internet about Bernini hoses:

  • Filtered/Expandable Series is 1/2" (4/8")
  • Original/Pro Series is a little larger at 5/8"
  • XL Series is larger at 3/4"

Standard [green] rubber garden hoses are 5/8"

Heavy Duty hoses at longer lengths for large lawns, and power car washes are 3/4"

Bernini always sells on how lightweight the hoses are.  They can only be lightweight if the diameter is small.  Larger diameter hoses are much heavier.  QVC always sells things for the older shopper, but they leave out the part about water flow and performance.

So it's great for some and terrible for others, depending on what you need.

By the way, Bernini still sells their XL hose, 3/4" diameter at QVC -- item # M95581

I've had this hose for about five years with no problems.  No kinks, easy to curl in the whiskey barrel they sell.  No laziness on my part to wind the hose in the barrel it's easy.  Not sure about the pressure as my garden flowers don't need high pressure.

Things like nice hoses, solar lights and yard decorations seem to vanish from peoples' yards around here. Happened to me more than once. I don't put stuff out any more and nice hose would be bait for a thief.

So sad but true.  People can be so shameless...

Just what I don't want. A metal hose in the summer in Arizona where it's over 100 degrees for months. My steering wheel is bad enough I don't need a hose burn.

I must be missing something.....why does one need to filter the water?  Never in a million years did I ever feel the need to filter the water for my plants. I must be missing something.

Re: Bernini TSV - April 4, 2026

We realized today that our Bernini from 2023 didn't make it through the winter but probably our fault for leaving it outside. I was all set to order another one until I saw the price! With shipping, the 60ft hose is double what I can purchase at Home Depot or Amazon. I was happy with my Bernini hose but not double the price happy. Even if I have to buy a new hose every year I think I'll still save money just buying local or ordering from Amazon...and I'll have it tomorrow.
