Watched a really corny episode last night...with song and dance...tap dancing too.. From 1981. A bunch of famous, now dead people,on this show week after week.
We were sure a simpler, less complicated culture back then. Today this show would probably not make it...

@SeaMaiden Even when I was younger (I'm 73) and watched it I was always bothered by the quickie one or 2 night stands and then they miraculously ended up together.
Corny as all get out! I remember when Lauren Tewes got busted and fired for drug use!

@SeaMaiden I was pregnant during 1980-81, and nearly everything seemed to upset me. I often ended up watching The Love Boat to keep my juices flowing in a calm stream. It worked as far as I can tell. DH didn't complain.

I saw an interview a few years ago with Gavin MacLeod. Said when he was first offered the role he turned it down flat. Also thought corny! But when the execs told him that their intention was to use lots of guest stars and try to bring some real golden oldies on the show, he changed his mind. Said that meant so much to him, and it was fulfilled.

As frequent cruisers what gets our attention is the size of that Love Boat! Probably 1/4 the size of an average cruise ship now--LOL!!!

I always thought it was weird that people would fall in love, inside of three days.
When I was doing cruises, a long time ago, I was up in Alaska one time and the told us over the PA that the Pacific Princess, that was the one used in Love Boat was right across from us. I was in a Princess ship (either the Sea or Sky Princess that time). They said that since we have Princess cruise cards we could go over there and tour the ship if we wanted.
Well, of course I wanted to! It was really fun. I recognized several parts of the ship that were on the show a lot

That show found a way to feature popular new actors (at the time) and some great older stars from the original days of TV. I remember it fondly.
