I am watching this movie now. I really enjoy it. Bette Davis is amazing as usual, Ernest Borgnine is always good especially in "Marty" Debbie Reynolds is good as well

@sunshine 919 Not sure how I went through the month of March and did not know Debbie Reynolds was the Star of the Month.
So I missed her movies. Glad you got to watch The Catered Affair.
I will have to check out Watch TCM and see what movies are available to watch.

That is a great movie, real life. And Marty is one of my favorites.

The original marketing posters are amusing in that they show Bette as Margo Channing, quite a difference from her appearance as Aggie!

Wow, you know when I see posters from the old movies sometimes the scenes have nothing to do with the movie lol sometimes you can't recognize the people. This one is amazing everyone looks the way they look in the movie. But you are right she looks like Margo lol.

I have seen this movie several times and always enjoy it.
Every performance is wonderful.
Bette's wistful explanation of marriage to her daughter and how her own marriage has gone always makes me tearful.
I love the ending.

This is another poster I located. It was released as "Wedding Breakfast" in the UK.
Note the Not Suitable for Children!
I guess that was related to the delicate conversations as to why the wedding was being rushed. The UK censors were notoriously strict!

Saw this on the TCM website
In one of her very few dramatic films, Star of the Month Debbie Reynolds impressed critics with her performance in THE CATERED AFFAIR opposite Bette Davis. She won the National Board of Review's award for Best Supporting Actress.

Such an honest movie about real, down to earth people. Always enjoy it.
