1:00 a.m. Saturday-- "Best of Private Screenings". Robert Osborne
TCM describes this as a compilation of various interviews he did in his much-admired "Private Screenings" interviews.
The schedule mentions that adorable, perpetual ingenue Jane Powell's chat with Robert is the first up--- but it's not clear whether this particular airing has clips of all the different selected interviews, or if it's just with Jane Powell for the whole program, with other actors featured in coming weeks? The others include Jack Lemmon, Debbie Reynolds, Esther Williams, Stanley Donen.
In any event, any show with the skillfully low-key, immensely knowledgeable and affable Robert Osborne is a delight. The often high-octane personalities he talked to would, more often than not, relax in his presence, knowing what a pro he was. The result was some awfully good show biz talk!
The stars always liked Robert. He made a pretty delightful escort to Lucille Ball, back in his acting days I would guess:

Thank you for reminding me. It looks like it is an hour and a quarter. Wish it were longer. But I am glad that they put together the Best of Private Screenings. I will gladly watch whatever they show.

I've seen a few of these interviews. The ones that were most memorable for me were with Mickey Rooney and Robert Mitchum. I would hope that they would do the complete interviews and not just bits and pieces.

Thanks so much for posting. Love 💗 that man. So much class. He seemed so very easy to talk to. Wish they'd air it at a better time slot.

Thank you @Oznell
I caved and added the "sports channel" to my package to get TCM back. I figured at about $.34 a day, I should enjoy my favorite channel. I'm sure Xfinity figured their subscribers would slowly come back and pay...sigh.
I love re-watching his interviews and will be recording this one too.

I once heard him say he was good friends with Lucy, and it was Lucy that told him to forgo getting into the acting game, she told him his talent really lies in writing and reporting much more than his acting skills. And he knew she was right.

Yay, @lil spot, knowing that you're back in the audience, munching popcorn along with the rest of us, makes me so happy! I'm just sorry you've had to deal with the whims of those annoying companies....
Wow, @Shelbelle, what a great story. Was Lucy shrewd, or what? She couldn't have been more right, and a very good friend for steering him in a more compatible direction.

I just recorded the show and look forward to seeing the interviews of the stars. I miss Robert Osborne, he brought class and dignity to TCM and was very knowledgeable and comfortable to listen to.

Oh, boy, @spiderw-- I managed to record "Duck Soup" and "Abbott and Costello", and THOUGHT I had recorded Robert Osborne, but did not!
Hope after you get a chance to watch, you'll report back. I'll be interested to know if it was indeed clips of different shows, or just Jane Powell for the entire program. The description in the guide was fuzzy as to that point....

Oznell - It started with Jane Powell but I think they did a clip of everyone that had a Private Screening interview. It is on Watch TCM.
Please don't miss it.
