Just watched again. This is what he said:
“I’m just not okay with it. I think I’m going to quit.” In the confessional:” (The final challenge was a pretty tough challenge) It’s not only knowledge and recipes, it’s a part of you. You need to put a part of you on the plate. You need to plate with your feelings and it’s really really overwhelming.”
When he and Dennis were walking to the back of the room to start, he said “I don’t want to play with sprinkles. I just want to go home. Goodbye” (as he placed his arm around Dennis)
They don’t show any other conversation, but the door they show him leaving was the judging room and the lighting was dark. I’m guessing they didn’t want to air his real feelings, after being insulted like that. Dennis also made comment about the sprinkles in his confessional (not the day he was expecting and not they need to use sprinkles- or something like that)
This isn’t the first time the bottom two needed to compete to make it to the finale. But, this time, Romy and Dennis were both so angry about it even before the sprinkle announcement.
Copying a quote seen on Facebook - imagine telling a professional baker to make something found on a cool whip container.
I don’t think Jaleesa deserved to be in the finals, but sometimes people just get lucky and someone else does something worse. And, since they judge on the task at hand rather than the entire competition, I can’t fault her win. After all, we can’t taste, we can only see, and her cake was the most complete (I guess).
I like your comments about creativity - her cake wasn’t creative and likely started the bad feelings. I don’t care enough to look back, but I wonder how many cakes she made all competition.
