ION is airing the semi-finals and finals tonight and tomorrow at 8 pm.

I'll be watching.   These kids are unbelievable and amazing,  and I always learn at least a few new vocabulary words.

I'm watching too but Lordy I am clearly only using 1/100th of my brain!!!!  I'm convinced it's in the DNA...and it's not in mine. And I thought I was pretty smart - not

It takes me back to when I was in grade school and we had championship spelling bees.

A Spell Off determines the winner, 12 year old Bruhat Soma, only the second time in competition history a spell off determines a champion!

After losing in the quarter finals last year, he says he studied 6 hours during weekdays and 10 hours daily on weekends.   Now that's dedication. 

He says he is donating much of his $50,000 in winnings to charity.

I also heard him say he was donating his winnings to charity on GMA. Very impressive young man!
