I caught the episode of her wedding on her reality show this morning while up too early carousing the TV for SOMETHING to watch. My goodness, the lifestyle Paris Hilton lives made me realize how the really really rich live in comparison to most "average" American people. After watching the show and her amazing wedding, I looked around at my "comfortable" not fancy, middle class lifestyle....and there was no comparison to the lavish and amazing lifestyle the super rich live. I am not complaining....I am so thankful for everything I have.
Temporary Depressing came to mind... for a moment after watching her wedding and lifestyles
...I live a life with no real wants or needs...I have a home, heat, water, food, enough money to buy what I desire for the most part...but compared to her lavish amazing home, surroundings, stuff....I really have nothing.
I wondered if we traded places for a week, how she would do in my environment....would she be miserable, disgusted? Would she(does she?) clean her own bathroom and toilet? Pick up her dogs poo? Go to the Dollar Store and Use Digital coupons to save a few dollars? Say no to buying a carton of eggs at $8 a dozen? Would Paris Be OK with a stain on the carpet covered by a throw rug? Would she be OK driving a 24 year old Chevrolet Venture van....? Just curious....
I know many years ago when she was much younger she had another reality show about living with people on her travels with a friend by car... and living how REAL AVERAGE PEOPLE live opposite of her Hilton lifestyle. You can watch reruns of that on the link I provide here.

I hope I do not sound jealous of Paris's lifestyle. And I do not hold it against her at all. I am Just amazed to see a glimpse of how a billionaire lives..an heir to all the Hilton's money. Born into wealth.
If I was offered THAT kind of lifestyle right now...to go from my life to one like her's....I would really have to think about it first. What I have now is all I know, and maybe going from my life now, to the life of a billionaire would not be easy to do...
Maybe I am just too comfortable in my middle class life....
I think I would like to try it though if offered a chance to see how the really rich live.🙂

@SeaMaiden Good morning and a star for good thinking. I believe once we feel we have enough to live without fearing how to care for ourselves and our dependents, somehow all the rest doesn't add all that much to our satisfaction/happiness. As for how some of the super rich live, that's a small percentage of our world, and I feel they get way too much attention from the media and even in sites like this Forum.
According to a financial advisor I use, the super rich are not the one-percenters, they're only the top quarter of them. I don't mind if they live well, but I appreciate the rich and the super rich who spread their money in ways that help the rest of us.

I appreciated your post and thoughts.
If you have ever been on a luxury type vacation for a few days, you can get the idea, or just watching something like this.
For me it would be nice for a few days but I know I would feel guilty about all the people who don't even have shelter or enough food. I don't think I would be happy living like that. And life can get in ways not used to, very complicated.

I'm with you. I don't need or want that lavish lifestyle. The only thing I'd like is to have enough money to pay bills, donate to my favorite charities, buy food, and have a little better social life.

For me, this kind of show is difficult to watch. With all the suffering in this world because of war, earthquakes, poverty etc, this kind of lifestyle displayed for entertainment makes me sick. If you have this kind of wealth, fine, enjoy it but don't put yourself on for show.

I never stop to wonder when I see "McMansions" or super lavish living with the kind of money that is just in another world from most of anyone's experience, why?
Why does anyone need a house, pool, grounds that are as large as a hotel to live in? All these things are so unreal and just something not at all right in a world where so many are suffering in so many ways. Minimum wage, working 2 jobs , nurses, teachers, first responders burnt out, homeless etc.

I worked as a live-in housekeeper (part of a staff) for some very wealthy people during the summer while they were away doing their jetsetter stuff. What an eyeopener that was.

@on the bay Thankyou for your thoughts. I think like the average person who's reality is struggling to pay bills and their property taxes....the super rich only know how to live in excess of what is necessary for a good life. It is just what they KNOW
. Yes, they could do with much smaller less grand homes, one working car, not a dozen expensive autos...etc.
