Good news for Patricia Cornwells crime mysteries! I love these mysteries with main character Kay Scarpetta! A series is coming to Prime this weds! I found this in NYT, today March 14. 2026.
So “Scarpetta,” a series whose eight-episode first season premieres Wednesday on Prime Video, is a major event for mystery fans. And the show has a cast whose cachet reflects that status, starting with Nicole Kidman as Kay Scarpetta, the chief medical examiner of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Jamie Lee Curtis stars as Scarpetta’s older sister, Dorothy; Ariana DeBose as Dorothy’s daughter, Lucy; and Bobby Cannavale as Dorothy’s husband, the former detective Pete Marino.
this sounds great!
I'm ready and waiting. I started with her first novel Body of Evidence I think. Or, Body Farm, forget lol

I will definitely be tuning in. I've read all of the Scarpetta books, starting from way back when. I just never pictured Nicole Kidman portraying the main character. I really like her as an actress, just can't picture her as Kay Scarpetta. That's the problem when you've followed a character for so many years, thru so many books. You get a mental picture of them. And Nicole Kidman doesn't match my mental picture. But I'm definitely going to give the series a shot.đź’š

@NEvans2 @Franklinbell I wanted to let you know. The NYT. didn't clarify well the start date. It is available now on Prime. And if you have prime it's free!

I am not a huge Nicole. Fan, but I can see her a bit as Scapetta tall, thin, in the trailer, Nicole's hair is kind of messy. Of course, I think in the book she is Italian, and may have dark hair. Scarpetta was always smart, but disorganized, lol I always laughed at the "little black dress" she kept in a tote in the car...just in case lol.

I am watching it now. Although, I enjoyed the books for awhile they went of a cliff at some point and I stopped reading the series.
I was not sure if I would enjoy the Show or not, but I am on episode 5 and it's good. Nicole is doing a good job as Scarpetta, and Jamie Lee Curtis is portraying the hot mess sister very well. I am even enjoying the back and forth with the timelines. The actress playing a younger Nicole looks just like her. In fact they did a good job in casting. All of the younger versions of the cast members look as if they could be them.
**Update to my earlier review. I have finished the 8 episode series. I was not a fan of the last episode, they strayed from the book series.

I've watched the first two episodes! At first it caught me off guard as as it flips back from the present to the past. Nicole Kidman and the crew you mentioned play the current characters with other actors/actresses playing them in the past.
I wonder if folks who haven't read the series will be able to figure out all the characters and how they're related to each other. .

I started to watch the first episode on Prime Video but I refuse to pay extra for an ad free movie and the ads come very often so you have less content. We pay more than enough for Prime and to add another charge on top of it is pure greed.
I love the Scarpetta books and Kidman fits the profile of Kay perfectly but I have a problem with Jamie Lee Curtis as Dorothy. For me, she is a little too over the top in her portrayal. I found the switching between the current time and 25 years previous in the very beginning difficult at first. I would have preferred to stay in present tense to get a handle on Kay before we go into flashbacks.
I'm happy to see that so many are enjoying it.
