I'm not crazy for her music but one thing I do know she is a very beautiful girl, so pretty, seems kind and I wish her the best.

On a whim, I went and saw the Taylor Swift album launch movie this afternoon.  I loved it. I thought it was fabulous.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

How about "Redwood tree, it ain't hard to see, His love was the key that opened my thighs" or "a hard rock is on the way"?  Etc. Not what I'd want my 12 or 13 year old to be singing, but that's just me.

@shoesnbags and @Lakelife62- Even DD has commented many times about the 7 and 8 year olds singing to the lyrics at concerts. She said that they must have no idea about the words they're singing. IDK about that!  Smiley Wink

@Lakelife62  "You Shook Me All Night Long" is a Headbangin' classic.  Many a time I would drive with it blaring from my car radio.  Yet I did not become a se*ual reprobate and graduated from university magna c*m laude.

Ms. Swift's talents are a perfect fit for this time and the generations who pay their hard-earned dollars to fill her coffers.  While I am not well-acquainted with her music, I admire her philanthropic endeavors.  Her management organization could teach a master class in marketing and promotion.

Listening to it now.

Loud.

Agree with your entire post. Not surprised you're not a reprobate and that you graduated with distinction. Not surprised at all. Smiley Happy

No. Never cared for her music or voice.

Seems like she's going from bubblegum songs to more adult music from what I

am reading here, maybe not for the young girls anymore.

Proud to say I haven't contributed one penny to any of her sales.

I  think all her music regardless of the lyrics continue to sound like bubblegum music. She will never have the heart and soul of Janis Joplin who will be gone 55 years tomorrow, Oct 4th.

She will also never have the voice that JJ had..

@Mom2Dogs Taylor is one of the few artists that does not use electronics she is actually like a 60's  folk singer.

NOT even close.

And presumably she won't kill herself with drugs like Joplin did at the age of 27 (heroin overdose compounded by alcohol).  She also to my knowledge hasn't been arrested, used vulgar language at her concerts and other events. Comparing the two is like apples and oranges.

Joplin was an artist of her time, as is Swift.  But Joplin destroyed her voice with her drug and alcohol abuse and lost her life to it.  Her biography by her publicist-turned-biographer Myra Friedman would make interesting reading.

Accidental overdose. Look it up please if you don't believe it.  Also, look up her performance at the Monterey Music Festival where people heard her for the first time and gave her a standing ovation.
